The Titans had significant turnover in their secondary in 2022, giving McCreary the chance to step up in his rookie season. He played over 1,000 defensive snaps and showed some playmaking ability by breaking up eight passes and tallying one interception. However, he also surrendered seven touchdowns to opposing receivers and allowed 8.2 yards per target. McCreary isn't an outstanding athlete relative to his peers and isn't all that impressive in terms of size, though he should be able to diagnose opposing offenses more consistently and take a step forward in his sophomore campaign. When the player actually will sign generally is the only drama involved in rookie contracts, but this year's crop of second-round picks gained some additional leverage in the process after the Texans gave safety Jalen Pitre, the 37th overall selection, three fully guaranteed years on his four-year rookie deal. McCreary, taken two picks earlier by the Titans, has a strong case to get a similar concession as he prepares to fill a starting cornerback role in the Tennessee secondary. McCreary was selected by the Titans in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Auburn. He doesn't possess the best physical tools, but he has been praised for his ability to recognize routes and his technique. If Caleb Farley is sidelined to begin the season, McCreary may be forced into a large role immediately to begin his rookie season.
