Golf Barometer: Hot Right Na

This article is part of our Golf Barometer series.

Only two events remain on the PGA Tour's 2020-21 schedule as 69 entrants make their way to Owings Mills, Maryland for the BMW Championship. The second leg of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals also ensues at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.

In addition to providing a couple injury updates, we'll now take a look at several players that are trending in fantasy value throughout the playoffs.

VALUE RISING

Kevin Na

Rapidly ascending to 18th in the FedExCup standings during the latter portion of the season, Na strung together results of T2-T23-T2-T8 from the John Deere Classic through The Northern Trust to position himself nicely for a potential TOUR Championship invitation. Na most recently broke par in all four of his rounds at Liberty National, where he paced the field in SG: Around-the-Green just one week after ranking second in both SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Approach at the Wyndham Championship. Over his last 24 rounds, Na is ninth in Proximity: 150-175 yards and 14th in birdie-or-better percentage among the BMW Championship field.

Sebastian Munoz

Munoz has gained an average of 5.47 strokes from tee to green per event throughout his past three measured starts, which doesn't even include his T4 at the Olympics in Tokyo. He opened the FedExCup Playoffs with a top-25 at The Northern Trust, posting all four rounds in the 60s while gaining nearly five strokes on his approach shots. Compared to his peers at the upcoming BMW Championship, Munoz ranks sixth in SG: APP across his last

He opened the FedExCup Playoffs with a top-25 at The Northern Trust, posting all four rounds in the 60s while gaining nearly five strokes on his approach shots. Compared to his peers at the upcoming BMW Championship, Munoz ranks sixth in SG: APP across his last 12 rounds and seventh in Proximity: 175-200 yards over his past 24.

Greyson Sigg

Sigg had already earned a PGA Tour card for the 2021-22 season via his standing of sixth on the Korn Ferry Tour's regular-season points list, but then he went out and won last week's Albertsons Boise Open to begin the KFT Finals. The Augusta, Georgia native, who's No. 2 in the KFT's all-around ranking, also won the 2021 Visit Knoxville Open. Sigg has even notched a pair of top-15s at the PGA Tour level since March, highlighted by a T9 at the Corales Championship.

VALUE FALLING

Brian Harman

Harman finished dead last among those who made the cut at The Northern Trust after actually missing the cut himself at the Wyndham Championship. His ball-striking metrics throughout the month of August are more concerning than just one MC, however, as he's lost a combined 9.4 strokes with the irons in three starts dating to the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. At 39th in the FedExCup standings, it might be wise to bet against Harman advancing to East Lake, especially given Caves Valley Golf Club will likely cater to much longer hitters than the 5-foot-7 34-year-old.

Jason Kokrak

Kokrak is still enjoying the best season of his entire career by far with two wins and five top-10s, but much like Harman, Kokrak's form is beginning to deteriorate in August. In addition to missing back-to-back cuts at the Wyndham Championship and The Northern Trust, Kokrak has lost at least 1.7 strokes from tee to green in three straight starts. Luckily for Kokrak, he can probably afford to notch a below-average result at the BMW Championship and remain inside the top-30 in the FedExCup standings.

Kyle Stanley

Stanley missed four consecutive cuts from the 3M Open through The Northern Trust to end his 2020-21 campaign at just 117th in the FedExCup standings, marking his third straight season of finishing outside the top-100 in points. An abominable short game now has Stanley in danger of dropping outside the top-200 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

INJURY UPDATE

Patrick Reed

A seemingly minor ankle injury forced Reed to withdraw from The Northern Trust prior to Round 1 last Thursday, but in the following days, a battle with bilateral pneumonia would land him in the hospital and ultimately cause him to miss the upcoming BMW Championship as well. A swift return to full health is the obvious priority, but Reed is on the TOUR Championship bubble at 26th in the FedExCup standings with desires of also being named a captain's pick for the U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Louis Oosthuizen

You can never be too certain with his availability, but Oosthuizen plans to return from a neck injury this week at Caves Valley Golf Club as he continues the search for his first PGA Tour victory since the 2010 Open Championship. The South African tied for third at this year's Open before sharing runner-up honors at the 3M Open, which marked his most recent of eight total top-10s this season.
