DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Tukka Rask, BOS vs. EDM ($7,600): This is the final contest of a five-game road trip for Edmonton, so with the team has been dealing with the flu bug of late, it's a ripe matchup for Rask. There is added motivation for the Finn, as Anton Khudobin has won four consecutive starts for the Bruins with Rask watching from the bench. Additionally, with Boston 6-2-2 at TD Garden, the spot only improves for the former Vezina Trophy winner.

CENTER

Bo Horvat, VAN at NYR ($5,300): This salary doesn't match Horvat's production or impressive chemistry with linemates Brock Boeser and Sven Baertschi. The Rangers have allowed the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.39) at five-on-five in the league, and Horvat's line enters with a solid 3.84 goals per 60 minutes. The 22-year-old center has also recorded five goals, 10 points and 24 shots through his past 11 contests.

Kyle Turris, NAS at CAR ($5,000): Carolina has surrendered 11 goals through its past two contests and owns the eighth lowest team save percentage at five-on-five (.912) in the league, so there is clear appeal for the Preds. Turris also projects to avoid the Hurricanes' top line, so he's a prime candidate to snap a two-game point drought. It's not like the veteran pivot been a disappointment of late. He's recorded five points through seven games since joining Nashville, and he's also been on the ice for an impressive 10.79 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes.

WING

David Pastrnak, BOS vs. EDM ($6,900): With just three games on the docket, Pastrnak's salary isn't prohibitive enough to overlook him Sunday. The 21-year-old winger's 3.03 points per 60 minutes rank 11th in the entire league among all skaters with at least 1,500 minutes over the past two years, and as noted, this is also a ripe letdown sport for the Oilers. Pastrnak enters the matchup with 11 goals, 19 points and 60 shots through 21 games for the season.

Brock Boeser, VAN at NYR ($5,500): A strong stack candidate with linemate Bo Horvat, Boeser's posted an elite 4.07 points per 60 minutes this season to the tune of 11 goals, 11 assists and 55 shots through 20 games. It's a favorable matchup against the Rangers, and the rookie's salary is still lagging behind his high-end production.

Craig Smith, NAS at CAR ($3,800): Skating on the No. 2 line with Kyle Turris and Kevin Fiala, Smith has recorded three goals, six points and 17 shots through his past seven games. The 28-year-old veteran has been a reliable scorer in the past, and now that he's back in an offensive gig, his price presents excellent profit potential. Few is his salary range are slotted into a similar role.

DEFENSE

P.K. Subban, NAS at CAR ($5,200): The stalwart defenseman enters with six assists and eight shots through his past four contests. Subban is locked into a go-to role, but he should also avoid Carolina's No. 1 line, so softer in-game matchups are likely. Additionally, as noted, the Hurricanes have been struggling to keep the puck out of their net of late.

Torey Krug, BOS vs. EDM ($4,600): After missing three games with an upper-body injury, Krug failed to mark the scoresheet in his return to action Friday. Interestingly, his salary appears to have dwindled as a result. Considering his 1.65 points per 60 minutes since the beginning of last season rank seventh among all defensemen with at least 2,000 minutes, Krug's a strong lean Sunday.
