Goalie
Semyon Varlamov, COL vs. ANA ($7,900): The Avalanche have surprised most this season, including myself starting off 3-1-0, and a huge part of that has been the play of Varlamov. he's won all three games with a .945 save percentage and a 1.67 goals against average. He's seen 39, 29 and 23 shots against him in his three games respectively and is a nice value against a Ducks team averaging more than 34 shots on goal per game.
Centers
Alexander Wennberg, CBJ vs. NYR ($5,500): Wennberg and the Jackets have sputtered a bit out of the gate, but they're home tonight where they were elite last season. As a high-level playmaker, Wennberg should see plenty of opportunities as a value price to exploit a Ranger's team that is weak defending up the middle. In four games, the Rangers have allowed five goals, nine assists and 32 shots on goal to opposing centers, equating to allow the sixth-most fantasy points at the position.
Matt Duchene, COL vs. ANA ($4,900): Duchene's skill level is incredibly high, but his salary has been depressed since the start of the season. He has two goals and three assists in four games, while directing nine shots on goal over that span for the Avalanche who are off to a hot start. The Ducks have allowed the second-most fantasy points in the league to opposing centers with six goals, five assists and 60 shots on goal coming from the position.
Wings
Sonny Milano, CBJ vs. NYR ($4,000): I'll continue to pick on my Rangers here as they have been bad defensively across the board. This holds true against left wingers, as the position has produced three goals, three assists and 42 shots on goal against them this season. Milano has started of the campaign with a hot stick, scoring four goals in his first three games on seven shots on goal. He holds a ton of value skating on the second line and seeing time on the power play where the Blue Jacket are extremely dangerous.
Marcus Johansson, NJD vs. WSH ($4,400): Johansson has played well for the Devils thus far and has a little bit of a revenge narrative to look at here as he spent his entire career with Washington before joining the Devils this offseason. In three games, Johansson has two goals and two assists while seeing an average of more than 16 minutes of ice time. All of his points have come in his last two games, and there's no doubt that he'll be amped up to take on his former mates tonight.
Anthony Mantha, DET at VGK ($5,100): The Red Wings have surprised to start the season, and Mantha has been a big part of that. In three games, he has two goals and two assists with eight shots on goal. He sees time on the power play where he has one goal and one assist, and is averaging in excess of 15 minutes of ice time per game.
Defense
Mike Green, DET at VGK ($4,900): Green has turned back the clock a bit with his offensive production thus far in 2017-2018. In three games heading into last night, he had six assists and three shots on goal. His upside is solid as he is averaging more than three minutes of ice time on the power play and around 23 minutes of ice time altogether. His numbers are a far cry from what they once were, but he's still productive at a low salary.
Will Butcher, NJD vs. WSH ($4,300): The impressive rookie is in a good spot, as his solid play has caused his ice time to increase in each game this season. In his three games, Butcher has five assists and three blocked shots for the red-hot Devils. The Capitals have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing defensemen.
