Toronto Maple Leafs
at Pittsburgh Penguins
The Maple Leafs (10-11-3) and the Penguins (12-6-5) meet at PPG Paints Arena at 7:00 p.m. ET on NHL Network.
While Toronto has dominated this series in recent seasons, winning five of the past six installments, and seven of the previous nine meetings since Nov. 15, 2022, the Leafs have struggled mightily over the past few weeks.
This is the second meeting of the season, with Toronto winning 4-3 on home ice as moderate favorites (-175) as the Over (6.5) connected in the first matchup. In that meeting, Pittsburgh fired out to a 3-0 lead through two periods. Erik Karlsson started the scoring in the first period, while Ben Kindel made it 2-0 after 20, Kindel was back with a power-play goal in the second, and it looked like the rout was on.
However, in the third period, Auston Matthews cut into the lead at 3:31, quickly followed by two goals from William Nylander. After seven minutes of the third, a 3-0 lead evaporated, and the Leafs weren't done. Bobby McMann netted a goal at 13:43, with helpers to Nicholas Robertson and Morgan Rielly, as Toronto came all the way back.
Anthony Stolarz made 34 saves on 37 shots in that victory, while Tristan Jarry fumbled away the big lead, allowing four goals on just 20 shots.
Dennis Hildeby (0-2-1, 3.36 GAA, .906 SV%) is projected to start opposite Arturs Silovs (4-3-4, 2.74 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO) for the home side. That tendy matchup immediately screams of Over play at first glance.
The Penguins topped the Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime Friday night, as Jarry got the win. With no rest, that's why Silovs is tabbed.
Pittsburgh has won two in a row for the first time since a four-game win streak from Oct. 16-23. The Over against the Jackets halted a seven-game Under run.
For Toronto, it suffered a 4-2 loss at Washington on Friday, slipping to 1-2-1 in the past four games, and 2-6-2 across the past 10 matchups. The Under is 4-1-1 in the past six games as well.
Let's roll with the Penguins to get the job done on home ice, and with Hildeby and Silovs in there, combined with no rest for the defense after each team played Friday, each team should be very giving.

Vancouver Canucks
at Los Angeles Kings
The Canucks (10-13-2) and Kings (11-6-7) meet at 10:00 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena on ESPN+.
Vancouver won two of three meetings last season, with the road team winning each of those outings, while the Over went 2-1 in those games.
The Canucks slink into this game with just one victory in the past five matchups, including a 3-2 loss in San Jose on Friday as the Under cashed behind Nikita Tolopilo in net. Jiri Patera is likely to get his first NHL start Saturday, as Thatcher Demko is nursing a lower-body injury, and Kevin Lankinen is away from the team for personal reasons. With no rest, Tolopilo isn't likely to be tasked with two starts in two days.
The Kings suffered a 5-4 loss in a shootout in Anaheim on Friday with Darcy Kuemper between the pipes. Anton Forsberg (3-2-2, 2.94 GAA, .888 SV%, 1 SO) is likely to start Saturday, and that tips the goaltender scales heavily in favor of the home side.
Let's roll with the Over with both teams playing on no rest, and we'll lay the goal and a half on Los Angeles, since the veteran Forsberg has played well, while Patera is unconfirmed, yet projected to make his first NHL start. He is the organization's fourth-string goaltender starting on the road. That's a tough assignment.
