Vegas Golden Knights
at Utah Mammoth
The Golden Knights (10-4-7) and Mammoth (11-8-3) square off at Delta Center in Salt Lake City at 9 p.m. ET, and that game is available for viewing or streaming on ESPN+.
Vegas has a crazy amount of games going to overtime or a shootout, with only 13 of 21 games decided in regulation. That includes a 4-3 OTL last time out in Anaheim on Saturday night, as goaltender Akira Schmid probably deserved a better fate.
VGK fired out of the chute with even-strength goals from Shea Theodore and Braeden Bowman, but it was quickly answered by two Anaheim goals. Tomas Hertl struck on the power play to make it 3-2, going to the room after 20, and then the defense and goaltending took over.
The Ducks struck midway through the second, but it was scoreless the rest of the way. However, a late goal in OT sunk Schmid, as the Golden Knights' offense just couldn't get on track after that Hertl PPG late in the first. Schmid kicked aside 29 of the 32 shots he faced in the OTL.
The Mammoth turned back the New York Rangers 3-2 on Saturday, which is no easy feat, since the Rangers are road warriors. Low-scoring, defense and solid goaltending have ruled the day for Utah, which knows a thing or two about overtime lately, too, going to the extra session three times in the past five games. It was sunk 3-2 in OT in three straight games from Nov. 14-18. Talk about consistency!
The Under is on a 5-0 run for Utah, while going 4-1 in the past five outings for Vegas, so that's definitely the way we'll be going for our total play.
As far as the side, with so many one-goal games for each team, we can't take the favorite (Vegas), as it is too risky on the puck line, nor can we take Utah, as it is too expensive for insurance. We have to pick a winner straight up. VGK won 4-1 in the first meeting in Salt Lake as slight 'dogs (-105) as the Under (6) cashed, so let's play Vegas, which also won two of three meetings last season, including its only trip to SLC.

Ottawa Senators
at Los Angeles Kings
The Senators (11-6-4) and Kings (10-6-6) lock horns at Crypto.com Arena in L.A., also at 9 p.m. ET, and also on ESPN+.
These teams met in Canada's capital city on Nov. 15, and the Kings edged the Senators 1-0 as slight 'dogs (-105) as the Under (5.5) cashed. Alex Laferriere scored at 9:19 of the first period with helpers to Mikey Anderson and Quinton Byfield, and that's all Linus Ullmark allowed. However, Anton Forsberg turned aside all 17 shots he faced against his former team for the shutout.
After that win, the Kings have slipped to 0-1-2 in the past three games, all one-goal games. In fact, L.A. has played five straight one-goal games, with the Under going 3-1 in the span, as the offense has dried up a bit. L.A. is good for just 1.5 goals per game (GPG) in the past four outings, while allowing 2.0 GPG in the same span.
For Ottawa, it has won back-to-back games by a 3-2 margin in the first two stops in California, topping the San Jose Sharks as moderate favorites (-165) on Saturday. The Under is 3-0 in the past three games, a streak touched off by the Kings' loss at home. The Sens have averaged 2.0 GPG in the past three games, while allowing 1.7 GPG in the same span.
In this series, Los Angeles is 8-2 in the past 10 meetings dating back to March 11, 2020, and the Kings have won five of the past six in the series. The Over is 3-1 in the past four meetings in Los Angeles, but based on the recent offensive woes for both teams, we'll go low on the total. And, let's side with L.A. on the moneyline.
