Best Bets for NFL Week 5

Best Bets for Cowboys at Jets | Justin Fields (NYJ): Over 240.5 Passing + Rushing Yards (-114)

We now live in a world where you can blindly attack the Cowboys' defense in prop bets and DFS, and I'm here for every single minute of it. Let's not overthink this – Dallas allowed Russell Wilson (Russell Wilson!!!) to gain nearly 473 combined yards a few weeks ago.

Fields has eclipsed the 241.5-yard mark in both full games he played this season, while Dallas has allowed the last three opposing QBs to each gain 310+ yards in this category. The Jets come in at 0-4, so this is a game that I expect them to give everything they have left in the tank, which should benefit Fields in both aspects.

Best Bets for Lions at Bengals | David Montgomery (DET): Over 50.5 Rushing Yards (-111)

The Lions head to Cincy as double-digit road favorites, which indicates we should see plenty of work on the ground for both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. I'm rolling with Montgomery here, given the game script and extra opportunities he'll receive at a much lower number than Gibbs (o/u 79.5).

Montgomery's numbers haven't been great this season, and that works to our advantage here. You have to look at the matchups, though, as Detroit has faced brick walls in Green Bay and Cleveland, which both have Top-5 run defenses. The matchup against Cincy is anything but, as they rank second-worst in a number of different run-defense categories.

Best Bets for Patriots at Bills | Over 48.5 Points (-128)

Based on the betting numbers, it looks like we're going to have a good old-fashioned shootout to cap off this Sunday. I'll be buying down an extra point here from the current 49.5 total, allowing a path for a nice and clean 28-21 game; or a 24-24 game heading to overtime.

The total initially opened at 46.5, so the three-point boost here is noteworthy. But that's not all, as the Patriots spread has even dipped from +8.5 to +7.5. This leads me to believe New England will have something to say, and they have put up 33 and 42 points over this three-game stretch. Lastly, I doubt we're going to have to worry about Buffalo, which has scored 30+ in every game this season.

NFL Week 6 Picks

  • Justin Fields (NYJ): Over 240.5 Passing + Rushing Yards (-114)
  • David Montgomery (DET): Over 50.5 Rushing Yards
  • Patriots-Bills: Over 49.5 Points (-112)

Best Events to Use the Fanatics Sportsbook Promo for Sunday, October 5, 2025

  • NFL: New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills, 8:20 p.m. ET| The Bills look to keep their unbeaten streak alive, but the Patriots are coming in looking for the upset in this AFC East showdown.
