DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Danny Salazar, CLE at CWS ($9,700): While likely to be a popular target, it's difficult to ignore Salazar's price and matchup. Even after allowing six runs in his previous outing, the righty owns a dominant 1.89 FIP and 34.9 strikeout percentage through six starts since returning from the disabled list. The White Sox also enter with a third-worst .306 wOBA and target-worthy 23.3 strikeout percentage against right-handed arms for the campaign.

Michael Wacha, STL at SD ($6,900): The Friars own the second-lowest wOBA (.303) and the second-highest strikeout percentage (25.1) against right-handed hurlers this season, so Wacha's salary jumps off the page considering the juicy matchup. The 26-year-old righty has been a little inconsistent of late, but his 3.76 FIP and 22.0 strikeout percentage are solid marks in relation to his salary.

CATCHER

Welington Castillo, BAL vs. NYY ($3,600): While it's a daunting matchup against CC Sabathia (.305 wOBA allowed), it's difficult to ignore Castillo's 1.012 OPS and .422 wOBA against southpaws this season. Additionally, the backstop carries a manageable cap hit.

FIRST BASE

Mark Reynolds, COL vs. SF ($4,100): The veteran has posted a high-end .314 ISO and .410 wOBA against lefties at Coors Field this season, so with a modest salary, Reynolds checks out as strong value. The matchup also stands out with Ty Blach sporting a 5.57 ERA while allowing a .367 wOBA away from pitcher-friendly AT&T Park.

SECOND BASE

Ben Zobrist, CHC at PIT ($3,300): Dating back to last season, Steven Brault has surrendered a .391 wOBA to right-handed hitters, so this is a solid spot for Zobrist. The veteran owns an unsustainably low .221 BABIP and .261 wOBA against lefties this year, but posted a .382 wOBA over the previous three seasons. His salary makes it much easier to chase positive regression, and the veteran is showing signs of late with an .868 OPS through his past 54 plate appearances (15 games).

THIRD BASE

Josh Donaldson, TOR at BOS ($5,100): Over the past four seasons, Donaldson boasts an elite .305 ISO and .411 wOBA against lefties. He lands in a ripe matchup against Eduardo Rodriguez, as the southpaw has struggled of late with a 6.75 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through his past four starts.

SHORTSTOP

Didi Gregorius, NYY at BAL ($3,900): Opposing starter Jeremy Hellickson has surrendered a .492 slugging percentage to left-handed hitters, so Gregorius jumps off the page at this price. The shortstop is locked into the heart of the Yankee lineup, and he boasts a .360 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season. It's also worth noting that Hellickson has an 8.23 ERA with eight home runs allowed through his past five starts.

OUTFIELD

Byron Buxton, MIN at TB ($5,100): With a .934 OPS and .384 wOBA against righties since the All-Star break, Buxton has put it all together at the dish. He also grabs a sneaky good matchup against Jake Odorizzi, as the righty has allowed a 42.6 hard-hit percentage and 2.4 HR/9 to right-handed hitters this season.

George Springer, HOU at SEA ($5,000):Ariel Miranda has allowed a 2.2 HR/9 to right-handed bats this season, so Springer's prowess against lefties makes him a strong lean. The outfielder sports a high-end .995 OPS and .418 wOBA against southpaws.

Carlos Gomez, TEX at ATL ($4,100): A high-risk, high-reward flier, Gomez is notoriously streaky and is currently locked into a 8-for-22 stretch with four doubles, two homers, four RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs through his past six games. He also boasts a solid .363 wOBA against right-handed hurlers for the campaign. Julio Teheran has held righties to a .329 wOBA, so Gomez is likely best utilized as a contrarian option.
