FanDuel MLB: Thursday Picks

FanDuel MLB: Thursday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitching

Walker Buehler vs. SDP ($9,800): He will likely be the most popular pitcher on the slate, and rightfully so. Through three starts he's racked up at least 28 fantasy points and will be at home for this matchup. He's a lock for cash games, and while others may choose different starting pitchers it just means he'll be a "rake-free" option.

Aaron Sanchez vs. MIA ($7,200): Sanchez is my favorite GPP play of the night given a home outing against the Marlins. Miami has only a .288 wOBA against right-handed pitching (20th in the league) and strikes out 25.4 percent of the time against that handedness. Look for Sanchez to thrive in this home matchup.

Top Targets

Mike Trout at HOU ($4,600): This one is a no-brainer as Trout has had at least 21.7 fantasy points in seven of his last 12 contests. He's also homered in two straight games and while he hasn't done it yet, the threat of stealing a base is always there. Vegas has the Angels scoring four or five runs and Trout figures to be a part of that production.

Justin Turner vs. SDP ($4,400): Turner has started the season on fire, batting .381 with five home runs. He's always crushed left-handed pitching and gets Ryan Weathers at home tonight. Turner had a .381 wOBA in 2019, the last full season of baseball.

Value Bats

Darin Ruf vs. MIA ($2,000): Ruf should be hitting in the middle of the lineup and he's had good success in the past against left-handed pitching. Ruf has a career .387 wOBA against lefties and gets to face Daniel Castano tonight. Castano isn't a top-tier prospect and will likely get lit up in his first road start of the season.

Kyle Lewis at BOS ($2,200): It can be hard to remember that Lewis won Rookie of the Year last season since it was a very short campaign. His salary is very low since he just came off the injured list, so it's a good time to take advantage. Lewis has a power/speed combination that fantasy owners love so he's capable of providing points in a few different ways.

Stacks To Consider

Giants vs. Castano: Ruf, Wilmer Flores ($2,100), Austin Slater ($2,700), Evan Longoria ($3,100)

I like this stack because it's very cheap; you can mix and match high-salary pitchers with these hitters. These are all hitters who have the right-vs-lefty matchup and while San Francisco is considered a pitchers' park, the Giants should be able to take advantage of this matchup.

Angels at Cristian Javier: Trout, Shohei Ohtani ($4,000), Jared Walsh ($3,900), Justin Upton ($3,100)

While they're on the road, the Angels are still a very potent offense and David Fletcher ($2,800) could be used in place of any of those four hitters. Javier might be a bit rusty given he hasn't pitched since April 8, so the Angels should be able to take advantage of that situation.
