MLB Betting: Wednesday Best Bets

Previous article (8/5): 2-2, 0.04 RW Bucks
Season: 49-51-5, -4.43 RW Bucks

We're set for a split slate Wednesday and will focus on both an afternoon and an evening affair where I see pitching taking center stage.

Miami Marlins at San Diego Padres , 4:10 PM ET

Starting Pitchers: Sandy Alcantara vs. Ryan Weathers

The Pick: Marlins Under 3.5 runs (-105 on FanDuel Sportsbook) for 1 RW Buck

Secondary Pick: Ryan Weathers Over 4.5 strikeouts (-104 on FanDuel Sportsbook) for 1 RW Buck

The Marlins have scuffled against lefties all season, and they naturally have a less potent lineup with Starling Marte off the roster. Miami owns an MLB-high 29.2 percent strikeout rate and .270 wOBA against lefties during the second half of the season, and a 30.2 percent figure and .293 wOBA when splitting out the data to their work against southpaws on the road. Weathers also just blanked the Marlins over four innings on July 24.

Oakland Athletics   at Cleveland Indians  , 7:10 PM ET

Starting Pitchers: Frankie Montas vs. Cal Quantrill

The Pick: Under 9.5 runs (-120 on DraftKings Sportsbook) for 1 RW Buck

Secondary Pick: Indians +135 on Caesars Sportsbook for 1 RW Buck

Montas has allowed three earned runs or less in seven straight starts, and in 11 of his last 12 trips to the mound overall. He's also been more effective on the road overall with a 5-2 record, 3.71 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 53.1 frames. For his part, Quantrill has six straight quality starts during which he's posted a 1.50 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, and Oakland has a .222 average, -8.0 wRAA, and .278 wOBA against righties on the road in the second half.
