Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Monday will bring plenty of action across the NBA with nine games on the schedule. Among the more exciting matchups will be the 5-1 Bulls facing the Celtics in Boston. The Grizzlies will also host the Nuggets in a matchup between two teams in the Western Conference with playoffs aspirations.

As far as injuries go, one of the key ones to monitor is the status of Malcolm Brogdon (knee), who is listed as questionable for the Pacers.

Here are some players to consider for your Yahoo lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Dejounte Murray, SA at IND ($35): What can't Murray do? He's now one of the focal points of the Spurs attack, which has enabled him to average 17.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 2.2 steals across 36 minuets per game. His 24.7 percent usage rate would be he highest mark of his career and likely won't be on the decline anytime soon based on the roster around him. That could help him produce another juicy stat line against the Pacers, who entered Sunday with the eighth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Alex Caruso, CHI at BOS ($13): After never having averaged more than 21 minutes per game during his career, Caruso is averaging 28 with the Bulls. While that hasn't translated into gaudy scoring numbers, his averages of 8.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals still make him a viable option in DFS, especially at this salary. His playing time should remain high moving forward with the Bulls being forced to play small more often because of Patrick Williams (wrist) being out for the season.

Guard to Avoid

Luguentz Dort, OKC at LAC ($18): Dort is not efficient. In his first two seasons in the league, he shot 39.4 percent and 38.7 percent from the field, respectively. It's been much of the same for him this season, shooting 35.4 percent over six games. He normally provides little in terms of rebounds and assists, as well, which has contributed to him scoring 25.2 Yahoo points or fewer in each game.

FORWARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS at ATL ($40): After averaging at least 30.5 points per game in both of the last two season, Beal has "only" averaged 24.4 points across five games this season. The problem hasn't been his usage rate, which is 35.7 percent. The issue has been him shooting 36.3 percent from the field. His career mark is 45.5 percent, so look for him to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Cam Reddish, ATL vs. WAS ($12): In what was an ugly lopsided loss to the Sixers on Saturday, Reddish only logged 20 minutes. Still, he managed to score 16 points. He has a 27.3 percent usage rate, which is eight percentage points higher than last season. His efficiency has also improved with him shooting 46.1 percent from the field. At this cheap salary, he should at least be on your radar.

Forward to Avoid

Kyle Anderson, MEM vs. DEN ($18): Despite the Grizzlies having a deep roster, Anderson still averaged 27 minutes per game last season. While he doesn't usually score a lot, that amount of playing time was able to make him valuable because he can contribute in multiple areas. The problem this season is that he's only averaging 22 minutes per game, which has left him to score 22.4 Yahoo points or fewer in four of six games.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN at MEM ($52): Jokic avoided a serious knee injury recently, and not only didn't miss a game, but he played both games of a back-to-back set Friday and Saturday. He's in the midst of another monster campaign, averaging 24.0 points, 14.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.7 steals. As long as he's healthy, he's one of the top DFS options at center whenever the Nuggets are in action.

Montrezl Harrell, WAS at ATL ($24): Daniel Gafford (quad) has missed the last two games for the Wizards, which helped Harrell score 57.1 and 39.3 Yahoo points, respectively. The key was that he logged at least 34 minutes in both contests. If Gafford, who is listed as questionable, where to be out again, Harrell could provide significant value for those who want to fade Jokic.

Center to Avoid

Steven Adams, MEM vs. DEN ($19): The Grizzlies have been involved in a couple of lopsided affairs recently, which left Adams to play limited minutes. While this has the prospects of a potentially close matchup between two good teams, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Adams get into foul trouble trying to slow down Jokic. He faced the Nuggets three times last season while playing for the Pelicans and only averaged 4.7 points and 6.0 rebounds.
