Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings a quiet night in the NBA with only three games. The Sixers play for the second consecutive night, which is not ideal given the COVID-19 outbreak that has currently hit the team. Joining their list of players in the league's health and safety protocols Monday was Joel Embiid, meaning that they are without all three of their stars. The Hawks also are playing the second game of a back-to-back as they take on the Jazz in Utah. Finally, Damian Lillard will continue to try to dig his way out of his shooting slump when the Trail Blazers take on the Clippers. While we have limited options to consider, here are some players to possibly target on Yahoo, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARD

Donovan Mitchell, UTA vs. ATL ($37): The Jazz are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Magic in which Mitchell really struggled from the field, shooting just 8-for-24. On the bright side, he had seven rebounds and seven assists. Mitchell has a massive 36.0 percent usage, so even on nights when his shots aren't falling, he can still score enough to warrant his lofty salary. This is a favorable spot for him to bounce back, considering the Hawks have the fourth-lowest defensive rating in the league.

Furkan Korkmaz, ATL vs. MIL ($15): The Sixers are running out of healthy players. Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle are in the league's health and safety protocols, and the Ben Simmons saga continues to drag on. That's left Korkmaz to average 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.0 three-pointers inhis last four games. Expect him to have a similar role in this game since none of the four previously mentioned players are ready to return.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Bledsoe, LAC vs. POR ($18): Bledsoe showed signs of promise out of the gate, scoring at least 39.7 Yahoo points in both his first two games. However, he's only scored at least 30 Yahoo points once since then and has had four games in which he scored fewer than 20 Yahoo points. Averaging only 26.4 minutes and 9.1 shot attempts per game, Bledsoe's upside should remain limited.

FORWARD

Paul George, LAC vs. POR ($49): George had an odd stat line against the Hornets on Sunday. He finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and a block, which is a solid all-around performance. It could have been better, though, considering he also had eight turnovers and shot just 9-for-22 from the field. He's playing a ton and getting all of the shot attempts he can handle, which has helped him average 49.5 Yahoo points per game. Working in his favor in this game is that both the Clippers and the Trail Blazers rank inside the top-10 in the league in pace of play.

Nicolas Batum, LAC vs. POR ($16): Marcus Morris (knee) missed the last seven games with a knee injury and won't return for this matchup. Batum started each of the games that he's missed, scoring at least 32.5 Yahoo points in three of the last four games. At this cheap salary, he could be well worth the risk on a night that doesn't provide a ton of viable options.

Forward to Avoid

Larry Nance Jr., UTA vs. ATL ($12): The Blazers don't have a lot of depth, so there appeared to be a clear path for Nance logging significant playing time off the bench heading into the season. They've leaned heavily on their starters, though, which has left Nance to average only 18 minutes per game. Even with his cheap salary, there's very little to be excited about.

CENTER

Andre Drummond, PHI vs. MIL ($30): Embiid has missed two games for the Sixers this season. In those contests, Drummond scored 60.5 and 50.5 Yahoo points, respectively. He logged a whopping 25 rebounds against the Knicks on Monday, playing 38 minutes in the process. While his salary increased by $10 from Monday, he is still an excellent option.

Bobby Portis, MIL at PHI ($14): The Bucks have their own depth issues now. One player's absence who has impacted Portis is Brook Lopez (back). After being eased into action because of his own injury, Portis started against the Wizards on Sunday, scoring 47.6 Yahoo points in 31 minutes. That performance will be difficult to duplicate, but he doesn't need to to provide value at this salary.

Center to Avoid

Clint Capela, ATL at UTA ($25): Capela has been inconsistent to start the season. He's scored at least 30 Yahoo points in a game six times, but he's scored 26.1 Yahoo points or fewer four times, including in both of his las two games. A matchup against Rudy Gobert isn't exactly a favorable opportunity for him to break out of his slump.
