Today's slate is a near-typical Monday that features a couple of big-names but a lot of mid-major action to dissect, and I'm here for it. Time to see what today has to offer.

SIUE Cougars vs Indiana State Sycamores 
This is a fun crossover game between successful OVC and MVC programs, respectively. SIU Eddie burst onto the scene last season with an OVC title and an entertaining run. Indiana State has had recent success, but has struggled to keep at the same level after much of the program headed to Saint Louis. SIUE lost studs Ray Taylor and Dez Polk, but return a solid nucleus that knows how to win. Coach Brian Barone remains and the Cougars should be quite a bit ahead of the Sycs at this time. After an impressive road win at UTSA, I like SIUE to get a comfortable home victory.

Presbyterian Blue Hose at Georgia State Panthers 
It seems so long ago that Ron Hunter roamed the Georgia State sidelines and the success he had seemed to go with him. This is now the fourth year of the Jonas Hayes era and the roster seems to be regressing. On the other side, Presby had their best year in program history last season and continue to project upward (relative to the Big South). Their first two games have already shown the wide range of outcome possibilities for this team: a 21-point loss to #185 Navy followed by a 4-point win over #156 ETSU. Georgia State is nowhere near the level of Navy or ETSU, and despite playing in their first road game, I see the Blue Hose getting the W.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Eastern Kentucky Colonels 
Do you like high-paced, high-scoring mid-major action? Then this is the game for you! WKU is already up to 14th in KenPom adjusted tempo and EKU projects to be in the same range. The Colonels haven't played a qualifying game yet, but did put 122 on Midway College last week. EKU coach A.W. Hamilton has a long history of putting together deep, rangy teams that play at a breakneck pace and Hank Plona has the same philosophy for his Toppers. With this close spread, it feels like nobody knows whether the wind will blow strongest to the east or west, but we can be assured that copious points will be scored. Even at this high total, I'm on the over in this one.
