With ELEAGUE Season 2 underway, there was plenty of action and highly contested matches to go around during Group A on Day 1. Overall, there were several unexpected results

Mousesports and Immortals kicked off Season 2 of ELEAGUE competing for a highly contested Group A matchup. With the recent addition of Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran just weeks prior to ELEAGUE, mousesports came out swinging, posting an impressive 12-3 first half against Immortals on Mirage, taking what is considered Immortals best map. Immortals came back to win six rounds before being stopped by Chris "chrisJ" de Jong, who carried the team with a 31/14 KD and 107.0 ADR. Mousesports were able to kick back after the win, awaiting the winner of Cloud9 vs. FaZe Clan to determine who would be their final opponent of the evening.

Cloud9 came out with an upset in mind against a highly skilled FaZe Clan. FaZe Clan also came into the match with a new teammate Finn "karrigan" Andersen of Astralis. However, the new addition for FaZe Clan didn't go according to plan. Cloud9 struggled to get their offense going until Jake "Stewie2K" Yip got a triple kill, giving the team a spark of momentum which they translated to a 9-6 score at half. As FaZe Clan looked to turn things around in the second half, Jake "Stewie2K" Yip owned the map with several triple kills on the defense closing out Train with a 16-7 victory. Yip carried his team with an impressive 140.2 ADR and a 29/15 KD.

The final match of Day 1 consisted of two red hot teams both coming off upset wins to kick off Season 2 of ELEAGUE. Cloud9 started off Dust2 with a push on the A-bomb site, taking out three mousesports players while planting the bomb. Cloud9's economy was off to a great start with two consecutive rounds won. However, mousesports came back with a much-needed fourth round win to break the momentum of Cloud9. From there mousesports and Cloud9 were neck and neck as each team battled to capture the first half lead. Cloud9 put up a great fight against mousesports after being down 5-7 to tie up the scoreline thanks to Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert's quad-kill, but it was mousesports that managed to claim the first half lead 8-7.

The second half showcased some strong defense from Cloud9 as they were able earn a potential map point thanks to Jordan "n0thing Gilbert's triple kill. However, after a timeout called by mousesports, the German based team was able to rally back to a 15-15 score line sending it to overtime. It was mousesports who stole the show from Cloud9 in overtime thanks to an opening ace from Nikola "NiKo" Kovac followed by a triple kill from Timo "Spiidi" Richter to send mousesports to a Day 1 victory.

Cloud9 will now go onto Day 2 to face the winner between FaZe Clan and Immortals. FaZe and Immortals will play a best-of-three to go on and play Cloud9 to stay alive in Group A. The loser of that series will go home with nothing.
