2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taken 92nd overall in last year's draft, McMillan was the subject of considerable camp hype and won Tampa Bay's No. 3 WR job before Week 1, but it wasn't until December that he broke through as an important part of the offense. Heading into Week 14, he'd played eight games and missed four with injuries, catching 13 of 27 targets while failing to take advantage of injuries to Chris Godwin and then Mike Evans. The rookie then scored seven TDs over the final five games of the regular season, with at least four catches, five targets and 57 total yards in each contest, before quieting down some in a playoff loss to Washington (2-41-0). The Buccaneers decided to re-sign Godwin anyway, and then took Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka in the first round, all after losing offensive coordinator Liam Coen to Jacksonville -- a trio of developments that harm McMillan's breakout case for 2025. The other concern is that he's merely average athletically, having put up a 4.47 40 and 37-inch broad jump at the 2024 Combine, where he checked in at 6-foot-1, 197. Egbuka has similar measurables, backed by a more prolific college career and superior draft capital, which means McMillan may eventually drop to fourth on the depth chart despite his strong finish to last year. To start year on IR
The Buccaneers are expected to place McMillan (neck) on injured reserve after finalizing the 53-man roster, which will force him to miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles said that McMillan is dealing with a "severely sprained neck" suffered during Saturday's preseason win over Pittsburgh, and Stroud reports that his recovery timetable could stretch beyond the team's Week 9 bye. With Chris Godwin (ankle), who remains on the active/PUP list, still up-in-the-air for Week 1 and a candidate to miss early-season time, six-time Pro Bowler Mike Evans and rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka appear primed to open the regular season as quarterback Baker Mayfield's unquestioned top two receivers, while TE Cade Otton stands to also benefit from an uptick in target volume.

McMillan caught 79 passes for 1,089 yards and nine touchdowns for Washington in 2022, but a knee injury held him back last season and allowed Ja'Lynn Polk to emerge as the Huskies' new No. 2 receiver. McMillan recovered some of his draft stock with a solid showing at the 2024 Combine -- 4.47 40, 37-inch vertical, 127-inch broad jump, 6.94-second cone drills -- and ended up going to the Bucs late in Round 3 with the 92nd overall pick. Meanwhile, new Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen has said he envisions Chris Godwin in the slot rather than mostly playing outside the way he did last year. McMillan thus figures to compete with incumbent No. 3 receiver Trey Palmer for a role that will largely entail perimeter snaps in three-wide sets. While it probably won't be a high-volume role if everyone is healthy, McMillan could be tasked with much more if Godwin or Mike Evans misses time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
WR room gets more crowded
McMillan could face increased competition for snaps after the Buccaneers drafted Emeka Egbuka 19th overall Thursday.
ANALYSIS
McMillan looked poised to feature in three-receiver sets after scoring seven touchdowns in the last five games of his rookie season in 2024. The 2024 third-round draft pick's path to playing time is more muddled in the wake of Tampa Bay adding another wide receiver in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Egbuka out of Ohio State could immediately push for playing time alongside veterans Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the latter of whom is working his way back from an ankle injury.
