Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Evans needed a catch in garbage time of Week 18 last season to extend his legendary streak of 1,000-yard campaigns, but it was only a close call in the first place because he missed three and a half games with a hamstring injury. He averaged 17.2 PPR points, his most since 2019, despite playing second fiddle to Chris Godwin early in the year. Both Godwin and Evans were injured during the same game, with the former suffering a season-ending ankle fracture. Evans went on an absolute tear when he returned a month later and didn't have Godwin competing for Baker Mayfield's attention, averaging 6.9 receptions for 95.6 yards on 9.3 targets over the final seven games of the regular season (five TDs). The Bucs are bringing back all their starters on offense from last year, but they couldn't keep star coordinator Liam Coen, who now runs the show in Jacksonville and will be replaced by internal promotion Josh Grizzard. The on-field continuity is promising, although it's hard to imagine anyone can match the phenomenal job Coen did in 2024. There are two other concerns for Evans -- the first being target competition from Godwin, Jalen McMillan and first-round pick Emeka Egbuka, while the second potential problem is Father Time. Evans will turn 32 before Week 1 and has seven hamstring injuries on record, although he's yet to show any other signs of slowing down and has a remarkably clean medical sheet apart from the hamstring troubles. Gets into end zone Sunday
Evans secured five of nine targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-20 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Evans appeared to be on his way to a big day when he hauled in a one-yard scoring pass with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter, but he was relatively contained the rest of the afternoon. His day also closed out on a sour note, as Scott Smith of the team's official site reports Evans misread Baker Mayfield's intentions on a fourth-quarter pass that resulted in a game-sealing interception for Carolina. The Buccaneers still have a chance to win the NFC South by prevailing in their final two contests, however, so Evans will be locked in during a Week 17 road matchup against a beatable Dolphins secondary.

There have been some close calls during Evans' 10-year streak of 1,000-yard seasons, but 2023 wasn't one of them. He had one of his best campaigns yet in the first year after Tom Brady's retirement, with his most targets (136), catches (79) and yards (1,255) since 2018 while falling just one TD shy of his career high (13 was still good enough to tie for the league lead). QB Baker Mayfield enjoyed a renaissance, and his solid work throwing downfield allowed Evans to land slightly north of his career averages for YPT (9.2), aDOT (14.0) and YPC (15.9) despite taking on more volume. The Bucs threw fewer passes than they had with Brady, but Evans' share of the targets skyrocketed to 24.5 percent after three straight years in the high teens. Tampa then managed to re-sign both Evans and Mayfield this offseason, though OC Dave Canales slipped away to become head coach of the Panthers. New coordinator Liam Coen said he plans to move Chris Godwin back to the slot -- which should correspond to a higher target rate -- but there's not much else around in terms of target competition after the Bucs used all their cap space to keep the gang together and settled for third-round pick Jalen McMillan as WR3 competition for Trey Palmer. And while the likelihood of TD regression has to be noted for any player that accounted for 13 of his team's 28 receiving scores, Evans has a lengthy track record of hitting paydirt (12.3 percent of his career receptions) from both distance and inside the red zone,

Activated from IR
Evans, who's been on injured reserve since Oct. 22 due to a broken collarbone, was activated from injured reserve Wednesday and is questionable to play against the Falcons on Thursday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans had his 21-day practice window activated last week, and he's subsequently put in six limited practices. Head coach Todd Bowles has been impressed with how both Evans and fellow sidelined receiver Jalen McMillan have performed, noting the duo "looked good, they looked fresh, they ran great routes, they looked like they never left." Evans appears to have a good chance of playing Thursday given his activation from IR, but final confirmation on his availability will arrive when the team releases its inactives list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
