Tournament Preview

The European Tour heads to Australia this week for the second event of the season. RACV Royal Pines has hosted the tournament since 2013, and the course consists of tight, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. Water appears on most holes along with scattered bunkers. Locals have dominated the leaderboards over the years, as Harold Varner III is the only winner since 1998 that is not Australian. Current form and course history will be focused on, as well as ball-striking and driving distance.

The hometown boy is an easy roster choice at the top since he's won this tournament and knows the course well. Scott's recent form isn't as spectacular as you would expect from the Masters champion, but he is a world-class player and has all the skills needed to succeed here.

Wade Ormsby $9,500 (28/1)

Wade was a pick last week and came through with a victory in Hong Kong. He is another local with experience here and is coming in with lots of confidence. What Ormsby lacks in distance off the tee, he makes up for in accuracy, and he also finished T2 here in 2014.

Ryan Fox $8,800 (28/1)

The long-hitting Australian enters this week with some decent recent form. He was T28 last time out at DP World Tour Championship. Fox averages over 318 yards off the tee and is hitting 72 percent of greens in regulation after finishing solo ninth here last year.

Sam Brazel $7,600 (100/1)

At the lower-price tier, I feel confident in Brazel. He has the skills needed for this course and has been driving the ball over 294 yards on average while hitting 70 percent of greens in regulation. He finished T23 last week in Hong Kong and has had some success at RACV Royal Pines Resort (15th-place finish in 2016).
