There are five games on the docket Wednesday, and the action is spread out with one game at 7 p.m. ET (Dallas at New Jersey), two at 7:30 (Winnipeg at Montreal, Buffalo at Philadelphia) and two at 10 p.m. (Utah at Anaheim, Washington at San Jose). Here are my recommendations for the night.
SLATE PREVIEW
There are no significant favorites in tonight's games, based on FanDuel's moneyline, with the exception of the Capitals (minus-154) against San Jose (plus-128). The Capitals are 16-9-2 after winning five straight and eight of their past nine games, so it's not surprising that they're perceived to have a meaningful edge over the 13-11-3 Sharks, even with San Jose being at home. Winnipeg at Montreal and Utah at Anaheim have an over/under of 6.5 goals, while the other three games are at 5.5 goals.
GOALIES
Jake Oettinger, DAL at NJD ($8,000): Tonight's options in goal don't feature much I like, but Dallas is a strong team, which can elevate Oettinger to victory, even when he's less than stellar. He has an 11-4-2 record, 2.76 GAA and .900 save percentage in 17 outings this year. Oettinger has won his past three games while stopping 83 of 91 shots (.912 save percentage).
Ville Husso, ANA vs. UTA ($7,100): Husso has been leaned on recently due to injuries to Lukas Dostal (upper body) and Petr Mrazek (lower body). The 30-year-old Husso has held his own, posting a 2-1-0 record, 2.71 GAA and .880 save percentage across three appearances. The Mammoth have struggled recently, dropping their past four games, so on a night where there are limited options, Husso is an interesting choice if you want a cheaper option in goal.
VALUE PLAYS
Tyler Toffoli, SJS vs. WAS ($4,800): Toffoli is coming off an incredible two-goal, four-point showing against Utah on Monday. He's also on a three-game scoring streak and has recorded at least a point in four of his past five outings. That's pushed Toffoli up to seven goals and 18 points in 27 appearances this year.
Josh Norris, BUF at PHI ($3,500): Norris returned from an upper-body injury Monday, providing two goals and an assist en route to a 5-1 win over Winnipeg. He's in a position to succeed on the top line alongside Zach Benson ($5,300) and Tage Thompson ($7,000).
FORWARD LINE STACK
Stars at Devils
Wyatt Johnston (C - $7,500), Mikko Rantanen (W - $7,400), Sam Steel (W - $4,000)
Johnston is on fire with five goals and 10 points over his past five appearances, propelling him up to 16 goals and 31 points through 27 outings this year. It helps that he shares a line with Rantanen, who has 11 goals and 34 points in 26 appearances in 2025-26, including a goal and six points over his last six games.
Steel has just three goals and nine points in 27 outings, so he's only worth getting if you really want to round out the line. If you can afford the upgrade, Jason Robertson (W - $8,000) is the far better choice. Robertson has 16 goals and 35 points in 27 outings this season, and he's set to play alongside Johnston and Rantanen on the power play.
DEFENSEMEN
Jakob Chychrun, WAS at SJS ($6,700): Chychrun is having a fantastic campaign with 10 goals and 23 points through 27 appearances. He's also recorded 91 shots, which is the second most among defensemen behind only Zach Werenski (98).
Lane Hutson, MON vs. WPG ($6,100): Hutson has three goals and seven points across his past seven outings. The 21-year-old blueliner is up to four goals and 21 points through 25 appearances this year, putting him on track to finish close to his 66 regular-season points from 2024-25.
