Edmonton Oilers
at Pittsburgh Penguins
The Oilers (15-12-6) and the Penguins (14-8-9) meet at PPG Paints Arena, with a puck drop at 7:30 p.m. ET, in the front end of the nationally-televised doubleheader.
These teams recently made headline swapping tendies, so, officially, this is the Tristan Jarry revenge game!
The Penguins decided to switch streams, landing Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak and a second-round pick from the Oilers in exchange for Jarry. The former Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender is back in Alberta looking to turn over a new leaf.
And, as luck has it, both Jarry (10-3-1, 2.69 GAA, .908 save percentage, 1 SO) and Skinner (11-8-4, 2.82 GAA, .890 SV%, 2 SO) are each confirmed to face each other. Jarry will be making his team debut, and it's in the place he came from. Skinner also hasn't yet appeared for the Penguins, so this is going to be must-watch TV.
Edmonton suffered a 4-1 loss in Montreal last time out Sunday. Despite that loss, it is 4-1-1 in the past six games, and the Over is 4-2 in the span.
Pittsburgh has posted a 0-1-4 mark in the past five outings, losing two times in overtime and two times in a shootout. It is hoped that Skinner will help turn that around, especially after epic collapses against the San Jose Sharks and Utah Mammoth in the past weekend, with Sergei Murashov and Arturs Silovs in between the pipes.
The Over is 3-0-1 in the past four games for the Penguins, while going 6-1-2 in the previous nine contests. For the Oilers, the Over has cashed in four of the past six outings, with the team averaging 4.8 goals per game (GPG), while allowing 3.0 GPG.
As you would expect, with the Oilers lighting the lamp frequently, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been on fire offensively. McDavid has seven goals and 16 points in the past six outings, while Draisaitl has two goals and 12 points in the same span. As such, take a shot on McDavid to notch a multi-point game against his former goaltender teammate. And, McJesus has three or more shots in five of the past six games, averaging 4.5 shots on goal (SOG) per game in the six-game span, so let's go high on that, too.
It isn't Frances Farmer having her revenge on Seattle, but Jarry will have his revenge on Pittsburgh. Back the Oilers to get the job done, and let's go high on the total.
- Oilers ML (-140 at Bet365 and Caesars Sportsbooks)
- Over 6.5 (-105 at Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars and DraftKings Sportsbooks)
- Connor McDavid - 2+ Points (-113 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Connor McDavid - 3+ SOG (-178 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Colorado Avalanche
at Seattle Kraken
The Avalanche (23-2-7) and Kraken (12-12-6) meet at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle at 10 p.m. EST in the second end of the nationally-televised double dip.
Since a stunning 4-3 SOL in Nashville last Tuesday, the Avalanche have won back-to-back games, including a 4-2 revenge victory over the Predators on Saturday. There is a lot of revenge talk in this column today, eh?
The Kraken suffered a 3-1 loss against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, going just 1-7-1 in the past nine outings. Seattle has been having trouble lighting the lamp lately, averaging 1.8 GPG, with the Under going 3-1 in the past four outings, and 8-3 in the previous 11 outings.
Mackenzie Blackwood (9-1-1, 2.19 GAA, .920 save percentage, 2 SO) is scheduled to go for the Avalanche, while Joey Daccord (8-8-4, 2.89 GAA, .893 save percentage, 2 SO) is likely to be in the blue ice.
This is the first meeting between these teams this season. Colorado swept the season series in 2024-25, outscoring Seattle 14-7, with the Over going 2-1. The Avs won 3-2 against the Kraken on Oct. 22, 2024, while the Under cashed in that meeting.
The Avs are worth backing on the puckline, as Colorado is priced anywhere from -286 to -320, and that's way too much risk for such little reward, especially on the road. Let's go low on the total, too, as the Kraken have struggled scoring, and that isn't likely to change against Blackwood.
- Avalanche -1.5 Goals (-112 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Under 6 Goals (-130 at BetMGM)
