On paper, Frimpong is a replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold, but reports from the team have pointed towards him as a more flexible option. He will take minutes at right-back, though he also seems set to provide depth for Mohamed Salah on the right wing. Frimpong is a uniquely positioned defender as he prefers to play as an out-and-out winger, which gives him excellent upside, but also with Conor Bradley in the squad, starts don't seem guaranteed.

Frimpong is out for the next month due to a hamstring injury, according to manager Arne Slot. "The medical team was completely right about Jeremie to tell me they had to take him off, because he is out until the end of the international break and that happened in the game."

Frimpong was substituted in the second half of Friday's 4-2 victory against Bournemouth in the season opener as a precaution after feeling his hamstring, coach Arne Slot said in a press conference. "Not only the pace of the league, Jeremie felt his hamstring a little bit so that's a risk - especially if the other full-back Conor Bradley is already out with an injury."
