FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Picks

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Wednesday's main slate throws us a healthy 10 games, with the majority of them being on the early side. The late game might be the most interesting as the Dodgers don't have to travel too far to take on the Padres in San Diego.

Pitching

Robbie Ray, TOR vs. CHW ($10,000): Ray has been excellent this season with a 2.79 ERA and averaging over 40 fantasy points per contest. He'll get the White Sox tonight, a team that strikes out 23.6 percent of the time against left-handed pitching, the 10th-worst mark in baseball. Ray has 40 or more fantasy points in 14 of his starts and should be able to hit that mark again in Toronto.

Josiah Gray, WAS AT MIA ($8,000): Gray is a top prospect who converted from being a shortstop just a few years ago. This is not only about him being a good pitcher but about having an ideal matchup as well. The Marlins have the fifth-worst wOBA (.296) against right-handed pitching and strike out 25.4 percent of the times as well (sixth worst). Using Gray will free up some salary cap space, and he should be good for at least five strikeouts as well as the win.

Top Targets

Jose Ramirez, CLE vs. TEX ($4,500): It's easy to recommend the hitter with the highest salary on the slate, but there's a few reasons to like Jose. He'll be facing lefty Jake Latz and Ramirez has a career .290 average against southpaws. He will likely be in a good RBI spot in the lineup and still has the ability to occasionally swipe a base (16 steals this season).

Ketel Marte, ARI at PIT ($4,200): Marte has been a model of consistency lately with double-digit fantasy points in eight of his last 10 games while scoring points in 13 straight. He's hitting .354 on the season and should be in his usual leadoff spot against the Pirates' Mitch Keller (6.35 ERA).

Value Bats

Jesus Sanchez, MIA vs. WAS ($2,300): If you aren't buying into Gray, taking Sanchez (who should be hitting cleanup) at this salary cap hit makes a lot of sense. He's delivered at least 12.2 fantasy points in five of his last 13 games and has hit over 20 fantasy points three times in that span.

Michael Chavis, PIT vs. ARI ($2,000): Chavis is at the minimum salary and should be hitting leadoff once again for the Pirates. He hit a home run last night, and qualifying at second base makes him a great punt option. Arizona will send lefty Tyler Gilbert to the mound so Chavis will have the favorable righty-vs-lefty split.

Stacks To Consider

Boston Red Sox vs. Bailey Ober: Xander Bogaerts ($4,200), Rafael Devers ($4,000), Kyle Schwarber ($3,500), Alex Verdugo ($3,000)

Verdugo comes into this game red hot with 34.4 and 31.4 fantasy points in his last two games. Outside of Bogaerts, the other three are all lefties facing a righty in Ober, who isn't considered any type of elite prospect. The Red Sox have the highest implied run total on the night, so they will be a popular stack.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Blake Snell: Justin Turner ($3,900), Trea Turner ($4,400), AJ Pollock ($3,100), Will Smith ($3,600)

The Dodgers are a great stack on any given night, but going against Snell will make them a popular pick. All of these hitters excel against left-handed pitching and Snell has been known to get blown up (4.52 ERA, 1.52 WHIP).
