NBA Fantasy Waiver Wire: Most-Added Players on Yahoo Today

Jared McCain, 76ers

McCain works as a streamer for tonight's limited slate. The Sixers announced before Sunday's game against the Heat that McCain's minutes restriction had been lifted, and he responded with 15 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal in 26 minutes. On the surface, that looks like a role expansion worth capitalizing on.

The critical context: VJ Edgecombe was absent from that game with a calf injury, and he's out again today. McCain's increased minutes and performance were likely driven more by Edgecombe's absence than any fundamental shift in the coaching staff's view of McCain's role. When Philadelphia is fully healthy—or even close to fully healthy—it's hard to imagine McCain consistently seeing 26 minutes per game.

McCain can provide value for tonight's small slate if you need a quick fill-in, but don't mistake this for a breakout or permanent role expansion. The underlying opportunity is tied directly to injuries rather than McCain earning more playing time through performance. Once Edgecombe returns and the rotation normalizes, McCain's fantasy relevance likely evaporates.

Recommendation: McCain is purely a one-night streamer for tonight's limited slate. Add him if you need to fill a roster spot for this specific evening, extract whatever value he provides, and drop him immediately afterward unless further injuries keep the door open. In almost all league sizes, he remains a streamer rather than a hold.

Trendon Watford, 76ers

Like McCain, Watford makes sense as a streamer on this small slate. He's coming off an impressive 19 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in 26 minutes.

We've seen Watford's ceiling before, and it's intriguing. He can flash as a playmaker, scorer, and rebounder all in the same game. The problem is inconsistency. Watford's performances feel entirely dependent on game script, matchup, and which version of him decides to show up that night.

The current opportunity stems from VJ Edgecombe remaining out with his calf injury, plus Kelly Oubre still being sidelined. Those absences create minutes and usage for Watford to exploit. But once the 76ers get healthier, Watford's role shrinks back to irrelevance in most fantasy formats.

Watford is just too inconsistent and situation-dependent to invest in for the medium or long term in the vast majority of leagues. You'll get the occasional 19/9/7 performance that looks incredible, then a whole lot of nothing. That volatility makes him impossible to trust in your starting lineup.

Recommendation: Watford is fine as a one-night flyer for today's limited slate if you're desperate for production across multiple categories. His playmaking and rebounding upside makes him appealing. But don't hold him beyond tonight unless injuries continue to keep his opportunity window open. He's a streamer, not a season-long asset.

Jaxson Hayes, Lakers

Hayes represents a perfect streaming opportunity with the Lakers being one of only three teams playing tonight and Deandre Ayton sidelined with a bruised knee. When Hayes filled in as a starter last season, he averaged 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1.5 combined steals and blocks in 21.0 minutes with the first unit—modest but useful production.

In his lone start this season, Hayes played 32 minutes and posted 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. That's solid across-the-board contribution that provides value in multiple categories. The extended minutes allowed Hayes to showcase his athleticism and defensive activity, both of which translate to fantasy-relevant stats.

The opportunity is straightforward: Ayton is out, someone needs to play center minutes, and Hayes is the obvious beneficiary. There's no mystery about the role or uncertainty about whether he'll play—he's starting and will see significant minutes purely by necessity.

Like McCain and Watford, Hayes is purely a streamer until circumstances change. He's not suddenly breaking out or earning permanent rotation minutes through performance. This is an injury-driven opportunity that will close the moment Ayton returns to health.

Recommendation: Hayes is an ideal streaming add for tonight if you need rebounds, blocks, or efficient scoring. The Lakers' inclusion in tonight's three-game slate makes him even more valuable for maximizing your roster's games played.
