FanDuel College Football: Week 7 Picks

CASH GAME TARGETS

QUARTERBACK

Chad Kelly - Mississippi at Memphis ($8,400)

I have trouble imagining any quarterback aside from Kelly leading the ownership tally at quarterback Saturday (though Dak Prescott at $8,600 would be my second guess). Kelly is not only prolific through the air (310.3 yards per game, 14 touchdowns in six games), but also leads the Rebels in rushing touchdowns (four) while attempting over six carries per game. Memphis is one of the best programs outside of the Power Five conferences, but the Tigers still aren't built for what Kelly and Mississippi's big, fast receivers can impose.

Honorable mention:Dak Prescott vs. Louisiana Tech ($8,600)

RUNNING BACK

Derrick Henry - Alabama at Texas A&M ($7,300)

While Kelly or Prescott might be the highest-owned quarterbacks, Henry figures to be the most-owned player not only at running back, but at any position. Playing on the road might be why Henry's price is a bit deflated, but this is a player who has scored in every game and carried the ball 23, 26, and 27 times in his three SEC games. Texas A&M's run defense has not been good, allowing 4.6 yards per carry and surrendering eight touchdowns on the ground in five games. Henry is an excellent fit for cash games and tournaments.

Honorable mention:Dalvin Cook - Florida State vs.Louisville ($8,900), DeAndre Washington, Texas Tech vs. Kansas ($7,100), De'Veon Smith - Michigan vs. Michigan State ($6,900), Jordan Canzeri - Iowa at Northwestern ($6,900), Dare Ogunbowale - Wisconsin vs. Purdue ($6,800)

WIDE RECIVER

Jakeem Grant - Texas Tech vs. Kansas ($6,900)

Devin Lauderdale is back for Texas Tech and figures to earn some targets in his first game back, but Grant is still the far and away lead wideout for this team and is the only consistent target in any part of the field. He might get pulled at or shortly after halftime, but he should also reach value by that point.

Honorable mention:Tajae Sharpe - Massachusetts vs. Kent State ($7,900), Leonte Carroo - Rutgers at Indiana ($7,800), Keyarris Garrett - Tulsa at East Carolina ($6,600), Joshua Atkinson - Tulsa at East Carolina ($6,600), Gabe Marks - Washington State vs. Oregon State ($6,600), Alex Erickson - Wisconsin vs. Purdue ($6,100), Isaiah Jones - East Carolina vs. Tulsa ($5,900), Calvin Ridley - Alabama at Texas A&M ($4,500)

TIGHT END

Rodney Mills - Massachusetts vs. Kent State ($3,300)

Mills is basically the No. 2 receiver in an offense attempting 49.8 passes per game. I don't want to say "must play," because there are other completely good tight end targets on this slate (Fumagalli at Wisconsin, especially) and any player can bust, but Mills looks like a uniquely rare edge to exploit. He'd probably be worth it at almost $2,000 more than this.

Honorable mention:Troy Fumagalli - Wisconsin vs. Purdue ($3,000), Jake Butt - Michigan vs. Michigan State ($3,000)

TOURNAMENT-SPECIFIC TARGETS

QUARTERBACK

Seth Collins - Oregon State at Washington State ($6,900)

Double-check Collins' status Saturday morning -- he suffered a minor leg injury last week, but practiced fully Tuesday. If Collins is at full strength, I think this setting is a perfect one for a strong fantasy effort. Washington State is obviously uptempo and shootout-prone, and Collins is quietly one of the most skilled runners at quarterback in the whole country. Unfortunately, Collins is both raw and under-skilled as a passer, averaging just 5.4 YPA on the year, which restricts him to tournament settings for me. Still, Washington State just got burned on the ground last week by an Oregon offense with no passing game and no running threat at quarterback.

Honorable mention:Skyler Howard - West Virginia at Baylor ($7,700), Seth Russell - Baylor vs. West Virginia ($9,800)

RUNNING BACK

Robert Martin - Rutgers at Indiana ($4,800)

Martin has to split carries with Josh Hicks and Paul James, making him a GPP-only consideration, but at this price he's worth some exposure. He's almost at the minimum despite running for 163 yards on 30 carries the last two weeks against Kansas and Michigan State. Indiana's defense is quite vulnerable, especially with Nate Sudfeld and Jordan Howard both questionable for a Hoosiers offense that might suffer from three-and-outs at less than full strength.

Honorable mention:Dalvin Cook - Florida State vs.Louisville ($8,900), Shock Linwood - Baylor vs. West Virginia ($8,100), DeAndre Washington, Texas Tech vs. Kansas ($7,100), Dare Ogunbowale - Wisconsin vs. Purdue ($6,800), Terrell Newby - Nebraska at Minnesota ($6,300), Storm Woods - Oregon State at Washington State ($5,700), Travon McMillian - Virginia Tech at Miami ($5,500)

WIDE RECEIVER

Trevon Brown - East Carolina vs. Tulsa ($4,800)

Brown is quietly one of the nation's most consistent touchdown sources going back to last year. An early season suspension kept him under the radar to start out 2015, and an injury ended his 2014 season early, but Brown has seven touchdowns in his last 11 games, even though he's a true sophomore. Tulsa is uptempo and shootout-prone, setting the stage for another Brown touchdown.

Honorable mention:Leonte Carroo - Rutgers at Indiana ($7,800), Laquon Treadwell - Mississippi at Memphis ($7,100), Keyarris Garrett - Tulsa at East Carolina ($6,600), Joshua Atkinson - Tulsa at East Carolina ($6,600), Gabe Marks - Washington State vs. Oregon State ($6,600), KD Cannon - Baylor vs. West Virginia ($6,300), Isaiah Jones - East Carolina vs. Tulsa ($5,900), Calvin Ridley - Alabama at Texas A&M ($4,500)

FADES

QUARTERBACK

Pat Mahomes - Texas Tech vs. Kansas ($9,300)

Mahomes is a great player on a team that's going to pummel Kansas, but the worry is that he won't play long enough to match the output of players like Seth Russell, Dak Prescott, and Chad Kelly. He may be worth some GPP exposure, but it's hard to see how this price is worth it.

RUNNING BACK

Samaje Perine - Oklahoma at Kansas State ($7,300)

Something seems off with the Oklahoma running game. Perine has never quite gotten going in this new offense, posting adequate numbers but nothing near the absolute dominance he displayed as a true freshman last year. Kansas State's defense got beat up by TCU last week, of course, but Perine has just 101 yards and a touchdown on the ground over the last two weeks.

WIDE RECEIVER

Christian Kirk - Texas A&M vs. Alabama ($7,300)

Kirk is a superstar with an incredibly bright future, but as a Johnny Manziel Superfan, I'm not convinced A&M will be able to do to Alabama anything resembling what happened in 2013, when Manziel threw for 464 yards and five touchdowns. Kyle Allen is an excellent player in his own right, I just think Kirk will struggle to do much better than around 100 yards and a touchdown, though the price attached to him generally demands a higher yield than that.
