QUARTERBACK
Philip Rivers, LAC ($7,500): He's priced cheaply this week, and even though he has to go across the country to face the Patriots, this is a premium matchup. The Patriots have allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season (23.2 per game) and shouldn't have trouble scoring at home. Rivers has a plethora of weapons at his disposal in Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin, Hunter Henry and Antonio Gates. A stack of Rivers with Allen and Henry would make a nice GPP play.
RUNNING BACK
Joe Mixon, CIN ($5,900): One of these weeks Mixon is going to break out, and this is set up to be that week. He had 68 yards from scrimmage last Sunday despite no carries in the second half, but the game flow this week suggests it should be a different scenario at home against the Colts. The Bengals should lean on their running game given that Indianapolis allows 4.3 yards per carry (12th most) and has given up a league-high 10 rushing touchdowns (second most is eight). Given his lack of consistency this season he's better suited toward being a tournament play than cash.
Alvin Kamara, NO ($6,400): Kamara doesn't get a lot of volume as far as touches, but he's a big part of the New Orleans offense when he's on the field. He has at least 10.7 fantasy points in each of his last four games and has either surpassed 87 yards from scrimmage or found the end zone in each of those games. The Bears have been much worse on the road than at home against the run, giving up a 79-331-2 line (4.2 YPC). Kamara has seen his rushing attempts take a slight uptick since the Adrian Peterson trade, carrying 10 and nine times the last two games, both season highs.
WIDE RECEIVER
Josh Doctson, WAS ($5,200): He will be a popular play this week, owners just need to hope the offensive line holds up in this one. Terrelle Pryor has been a huge disappointment and Jay Gruden said Monday the Redskins need to get the ball in Doctson's hands more. The Cowboys' secondary isn't as good as it's been in the past, making this a good matchup for the Washington wide receivers. Dallas has allowed the the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers.
Devin Funchess, CAR ($6,400): The Tampa Bay defense has gotten better with the return of Kwon Alexander and Levonte David, but this could turn into shootout as the Bucs don't guard wide receivers. Kelvin Benjamin ($6,600) is also in play, and a Cam Newton ($7,800) stack with the two could be a nice GPP play. However, Funchess is healthier than Benjamin, who is battling knee soreness, and hence is the preferred target. Funchess has at least eight targets in his last five games, giving him a nice floor against a defense allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers.
TIGHT END
Jason Witten, DAL ($5,400): Witten is the Larry Fitzgerald of tight ends who seems to defy Father Time and produce every season for fantasy purposes. Witten has fantasy games of 13.4, 15.4 and 20.7 points this season, showing there's still gas left in the tank. This week, the matchup is more than ideal as the Redskins have given up the third-most fantasy points to tight ends (NYG is first and on bye), setting up Witten for a good game.
KICKER
Jake Elliott, PHI ($4,800): Kickers are always a crapshoot, but it's hard not to imagine Carson Wentz moving the ball up and down the field against the visiting 49ers. Elliott has at least nine fantasy points in every game this season with 10, 12 and 13 at home this season. On top of that, he's tied for only the eighth-highest price this week, a week that has six teams on bye.
DEFENSE
Detroit Lions, ($4,500): If you're playing any of the early slate, common sense says to play the Vikings who get DeShone Kizer and the Joe Thomas-less Cleveland Browns. However, the team on the main slate that averages the most fantasy points per game is the Lions (13). They've had an extra week off to prepare, and Ben Roethlisberger has played much worse on the road than at home the last few seasons.
