Sandwiched between two busy nights for the NHL, there are five games slated for Wednesday. The action is spread out with one game starting at 7 p.m. (Dallas at Washington), one at 7:30 p.m. (Calgary at Montreal), two at 9:30 p.m. (St. Louis at Chicago, Ottawa at Utah) and one at 10:30 p.m. (San Jose at Los Angeles).
SLATE PREVIEW
Dallas and San Jose also had a game Tuesday, so fatigue might negatively impact those two teams tonight. The other eight squads playing tonight are rested, but Calgary, Montreal and Ottawa are each scheduled to play Thursday, which might influence those teams' lineup decisions.
GOALIES
Jacob Fowler, MON vs. CAL ($7,600): The 21-year-old rookie netminder has had his ups and downs, but he's shown some promise with his 3-2-2 record, 2.57 GAA and .903 save percentage across seven outings. Getting the assignment against the Flames might make for a good night. It would be his first home start since earning a 31-save shutout over Pittsburgh on Dec. 20, and Calgary has struggled offensively, ranking 30th in goals per game with 2.62.
Spencer Knight, CHI vs. STL ($7,500): Knight has won his past two starts while stopping 54 of 59 shots (.915 save percentage). He's 12-11-6 with a 2.60 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 29 outings this campaign. The Blues are a favorable matchup, ranking 32nd in goals per game with 2.49.
VALUE PLAYS
Kevin Fiala, LAK vs. SJS ($5,900): Fiala will go into tonight's action amid a four-game scoring streak in which he's collected two goals and five points. That gives him 15 goals and 29 points, including 12 with the man advantage, in 41 appearances this season.
Justin Sourdif, WAS vs. DAL ($4,300): Sourdif has been incredible recently, contributing five goals and nine points across his past four outings. It helps that he's averaged 17:30 of ice time over that stretch, up from 13:52 per game across his first 38 appearances of 2025-26. Although his recent output isn't sustainable, he's a nice grab while he's hot and serving in a top-six capacity.
FORWARD LINE STACK
Senators at Mammoth
Tim Stutzle (W - $7,200), Claude Giroux (W - $5,000), Fabian Zetterlund (W - $4,600)
Stutzle is one of the hottest players in the league. He's on an impressive 13-game scoring streak in which he's provided eight goals and 21 points. That run has elevated him to 19 goals and 45 points across 41 appearances this season. He's unquestionably the highlight of this line, but Giroux is hot, too, with four goals and 10 points over his past nine games, which gives him nine goals and 29 points in 41 appearances this season.
The awkward thing is that all three of these forwards are listed as wingers. You could still round out the trio by selecting Zetterlund, who has provided good value recently with four goals and nine points in nine appearances. However, you also have the option of subbing him out for Dylan Cozens (C - $6,000). Cozens has recorded a point in each of his past two games (one goal, one assist), and is having a strong campaign with 12 goals and 31 points in 41 outings.
DEFENSEMEN
Lane Hutson, MON vs. CAL ($6,500): Hutson has been rolling along with two goals and 10 points over his past six outings. While this is a particularly good stretch for him, the 21-year-old is also having a dominant campaign overall with seven goals and 42 points in 42 appearances.
Artyom Levshunov, CHI vs. STL ($4,900): Levshunov's first full campaign in the NHL is shaping up to be a solid one. The 19-year-old has two goals and 20 points through 40 outings. That includes 10 points with the man advantage, and it's bolstered by his recent hot streak -- he has a goal and six points over his past eight appearances.
