With at least one goal in four straight games, Son Heung-Min is our solo Premier League Golden Boot leader, pushing ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he failed to find the back of the net against Southampton this past weekend. Son scored the only goal in Spurs' 1-0 victory away to Burnley on Monday, and he's now posted eight goals on 10 shots on goal (14 total shots) this season.
Interestingly, teammate Harry Kane still has better odds to win the Golden Boot (+450 to +600) despite scoring "only" five times in six games, but he also leads the Premier League in assists with eight, double the amount of the next highest player (Aston Villa's John McGinn). Kane has been shooting much more than Son, ripping off 29 shots and putting 13 on target, so it's not really a surprise that he's still a big front-runner for the award.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah saw his odds move from +350 to +400 after failing to score against Sheffield United on Saturday, and it may be a little worrying that he's only scored in three of six games. Then again, only Son and Calvert-Lewin (+700 to win the Boot) have more goals this season, so let's not be too dramatic. Jamie Vardy's goal in a 1-0 win away to Arsenal gave him six goals for the season, improving his odds from +1100 to +700, as he reminded everyone that he actually won the award last season.
However, the biggest mover of the week was Leeds' Patrick Bamford, which comes as no surprise since he bagged a hat trick against Aston Villa on Friday. Bamford now has six goals on the season, scoring inf our of six games, and only nine players have better odds to finish as the Premier League's top scorer after his moved from +10000 to +2500, tying him with Danny Ings, Raul Jimenez and Sergio Aguero, who will need an absolute monster season when he returns from injury if he wants any chance at the award. Given that he'll be sidelined until at least the international break, those Golden Boot tickets are looking more and more like they're heading for the recycling bin.
Aguero has the best odds to win the Golden Boot among players who haven't actually scored a goal yet (he has one in the Champions League), with Edinson Cavani (+5000) and Anthony Martial (+8000) joining the group. They certainly have a long way to go if they have any chance, which realistically they don't.
And speaking of guys who seem to have no chance, we must say farewell to Jordan Ayew, who is no longer being offered as a Golden Boot winner on DraftKings, a tough parting gift after having to quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test.
