Pitching
There are three elite pitchers to work with in Freddy Peralta ($10,500), Logan Gilbert ($10,000) and Cristopher Sanchez ($9,500). Peralta draws the dream matchup against the Angels – consistently one of the most strikeout-prone teams in the league. Gilbert is also a decent option against the Royals, while Sanchez draws a tough matchup against a Dodgers' lineup that has woken up now that it's crunch time.
There is another group of pitchers to consider in the $7,900 -$8,400 range, with Cam Schlittler ($8,200) standing out due to his matchup against the Twins and his recent track record. Shohei Ohtani ($8,000) is underpriced, but he does draw a relatively tough Phillies lineup. Ryan Pepiot ($7,900) has at least 20 DK points in each of his last three starts, though a tough matchup against the Jays is a reason to shy away.
The options dry up a bit from there, but Shane Smith ($7,000) looks to be the value play of the day. Dating back to his return from the injured list August 1, he has tallied at least 20 DK points in four of seven starts and at least 18 DK points on five occasions. He draws the Orioles, who have a 27.8 percent strikeout rate and .282 wOBA in the last 14 days.
AJ Blubaugh ($6,000) is a true punt option. He's shown the ability to rack up strikeouts in short stints (28.7 K% in 22 innings), but he worked 3.1 innings his last time out and looks to be in line for a more traditional start against Texas.
Top Hitters
Sean Manaea has struggled with home runs significantly in recent starts, allowing multiple long balls in three of his last five outings. Getting some Padres' power hitters into lineups is a good option for Tuesday's slate, and Jackson Merrill ($4,100) is getting hot after a mostly disappointing season.
The Marlins are in Coors Field on Tuesday night and draw Kyle Freeland, who has a 5.82 ERA and 1.66 WHIP at home this season. Otto Lopez ($4,400) looks likely to serve as the leadoff hitter and is a good bat to target given the context.
Value Bats
Arizona will be a key lineup on tonight's slate, but this is a game I want to target as a whole. Eduardo Rodriguez has pitched better lately but has still allowed four or more earned runs in 11 of his 26 starts this season, while posting a 5.28 ERA and 1.52 WHIP at home. That makes Luis Matos ($3,200) and Casey Schmitt ($3,300) interesting values to target.
The Rays are an interesting option because of Jose Berrios' inconsistent nature, and because they'll have a positive hitting environment to take advantage of. At least one of Tristan Gray ($3,600) or Bob Seymour ($3,000) should be in the lineup and would provide significant savings with a decent game.
Stacks to Consider
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Angels (Caden Dana): Sal Frelick ($4,000), Jackson Chourio ($4,900), Christian Yelich ($5,100)
The Brewers draw the ideal matchup for stacking. Dana has generated a lot of whiffs in his initial MLB outings, but he's also walked a ton of hitters (11 BB across 15.2 innings) while also giving up 2.30 HR/9. This is a great spot for Milwaukee to put up a lot of runs early and then to beat up on the Angels' bullpen later in the game.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants (Carson Seymour): Geraldo Perdomo ($4,900), Ketel Marte ($5,400), Corbin Carroll ($5,900)
The Diamondbacks are one of the hottest teams in the majors and have been a potent team at home all season (.336 wOBA, .196 ISO). They similarly will draw a very favorable matchup against the projected combination of Matt Gage and Carson Seymour, the latter of whom could work bulk innings. If Seymour doesn't, it will turn into a true bullpen game, which should also benefit the Diamondbacks.
