Recommended Pickup
Esmil Rogers, SP, TOR – Rogers has had an interesting season. He pitched decently out of the bullpen, then entered the rotation full-time in early June. His move to the rotation opened in spectacular fashion, as he went 5-1 with a 2.27 ERA in his six June appearances (five starts), but he was fool's gold – with just 20 strikeouts in 31.2 innings and a lucky .231 BABIP, he had a course correction coming. Indeed, things came crashing down in July and August, as he posted a soul-crushing 7.33 ERA over those two months. But there were positive signs – he was missing some more bats, and this time the BABIP luck was swinging the other way. Since the calendar turned to September, Rogers has responded by delivering three straight quality outings, allowing just three runs in 20 innings (1.35 ERA) while striking out 16 against just four walks. We could be seeing the hard-throwing righty blooming late before our very eyes. It's understandable that blooming can take a while when you're a pitcher who came up in the Rockies organization. In any case, Rogers makes for an intriguing streaming option down the stretch.
