Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Friday brings a matchup between the Warriors and Grizzlies to decide the eighth seed in the Western Conference. It also presents an opportunity to play Yahoo's single-game contest, which comes with a bit of a twist.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5x their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2x their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Stephen Curry ($49): Despite the Warriors being held to 100 points by the Lakers on Wednesday, Curry was once again his productive self with 37 points. He attempted 23 shots from the field, which was basically on par with his season average of 21.7 per game. With the Warriors' season on the line, look for Curry to jack up a ton of shots. That could leave him with a juicy stat line given he scored 66.9 Yahoo points the last time against the Grizzlies.

Jonas Valanciunas ($35): Talk about a dominant big-man performance. The Spurs were no match for Valanciunas, who recorded 23 points, 23 rebounds and three blocks against them Wednesday. It was certainly a favorable matchup for him given the Spurs allowed the fifth-most rebounds per game in the league during the regular season. Look for him to keep rolling against the Warriors, who allowed the third-most rebounds.

Draymond Green ($31): Facing Anthony Davis and the Lakers was a tough matchup for Green, so it's not shocking he was only held to two points. However, he contributed in other areas and finished with nine rebounds, eight assists, three steals and three blocks. When Green faced the Grizzlies last Sunday, he provided another valuable all-around stat line with 14 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, a steal and two blocks. With the ability to produce in so many different categories, he's an ideal option for one of the multiplier positions.

FLEX PLAYS

Kevon Looney ($10): The Warriors don't have much size up front, so they really needed Looney to have a good game against the Lakers' deep frontcourt and he responded with six points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. He was on a rebounding tear to end the regular season averaging 10.2 rebounds over the final six contests. The Warriors will need Looney to battle with Valanciunas, so he could receive enough playing time to provide value.

Jordan Poole ($10): Poole has quietly become a key bench player for the Warriors. He scored 10 points against the Lakers, which came on the heels of averaging 17.8 points and 2.7 three-pointers over the final nine games of the regular season. Although Poole's contributions in other areas will likely be underwhelming, Poole is at least worth considering for a flex spot at the minimum salary if you're looking to play three high-salary players in the multiplier spots.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Brandon Clarke ($13): Despite not being listed on the injury report, Clarke didn't take the floor against the Spurs. He only averaged 19 minutes over his final 10 appearances this season, which is a significant decline compared to his season average of 24 minutes. With Jaren Jackson Jr. back in the fold, Clarke may continue to struggle to find his way on the court.
