Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After a wild Monday that included 11 games, the NBA only brings three games to the table Tuesday. The good news is we still have a couple of exciting matchups. One features the 11-2 Warriors taking on the 10-4 Nets. Another matchup that jumps off the page is the Jazz playing host to the Sixers. The only downside is that Joel Embiid (COVID-19) is still not be eligible to return. Let's highlight some players to consider for your Yahoo DFS lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARD

Stephen Curry, GS at BKN ($50): As if Curry averaging 12.7 three-point attempts per game last season wasn't wild enough, he's averaged 13.3 three-point attempts this season. While he's only hit at 38.7 percent, the sheer volume alone has helped him average 5.2 made three's per game. Add his averages of 6.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists and Curry has an extremely high floor in this matchup.

Seth Curry, PHI at UTA ($15): Both Curry brothers could be appealing for this slate. Not only will the Sixers be without Embiid, but Danny Green (hamstring) has also been ruled out. Curry's lack of assists and defensive stats do cap his upside, but he's parlayed a career-high 34 minutes per game into averages of 16.2 points and 2.5 three-pointers.

Guard to Avoid

Derrick White, SA at LAC ($20): Efficiency hasn't been White's strong suit. His field goal percentage has dropped every season of his career, finishing last season at an ugly 41.1 percent. He's been even worse this season at 38.1 percent, which has contributed to him scoring 25.1 Yahoo points or fewer in four consecutive games. That's not great production from a player with this high of a salary.

FORWARD

Paul George, LAC vs. SA ($47): Not much of an argument needs to be made for rolling with George in DFS whenever the Clippers play. With Kawhi Leonard (knee) out, George has a 34.2 percent usage rate, averaging 26.5 points per game. Combine that with his averages of 8.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.2 steals and you get one of the more appealing players for this slate, regardless of position.

Devin Vassell, SA at LAC ($12): Although Vassell isn't starting for the Spurs, he averages 26 minutes per game, nine minutes more than his rookie season. Unlike White, he has seen his field-goal rate improve to 46.6 percent, which is six percentage points higher than last season. He's used that to help propel him to at least 25.5 Yahoo points in six of his last seven games.

Forward to Avoid

Draymond Green, GS at BKN ($28): Green is a better real-life player than he is fantasy option. The good news is that he's averaging 8.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. The bad news is that his usage rate of 14.3 percent has limited him to 8.2 points per game. If you're looking for a forward in this salary range, the better play might be Tobias Harris ($31). The Sixers need him to score more with Embiid out, which led him to score 45.7 Yahoo points Saturday against the Pacers.

CENTER

Rudy Gobert, UTA vs. PHI ($35): Gobert continues to dominate down low for the Jazz, averaging 14.9 points and 15.3 rebounds per game. He's shooting an insane 71.7 percent from the field and has even improved to 67.4 percent at the free-throw line, which would be the second-highest mark of his career. It should be a fun big-man battle between him and Andre Drummond ($37), who have the most expensive salaries at the center spot. Given that Gobert is $2 less, he might be the better option given their similar upsides.

LaMarcus Aldridge, BKN vs. GS ($16): Aldridge has provided a scoring punch for the Nets' second unit, averaging 12.8 points per game and shooting 58.6 percent from the field. He's even hauled in 5.7 rebounds in only 21 minutes per game. There aren't many viable centers with cheap salaries for this three-game slate, but Aldridge has the potential to provide value.

Center to Avoid

Ivica Zubac, LAC vs. SA ($18): This might not be a good matchup for Zubac. The Spurs have been running with Thaddeus Young more at the five with Jakob Poeltl (COVID-19) out, leaving them with smaller lineups that could cause defensive issues for Zubac. He can't afford to lose any minutes given that he's already averaging just 24.1 Yahoo points per game.
