FanDuel Fantasy Football: Salary Adjustments

FanDuel Fantasy Football: Salary Adjustments

This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.

The key to daily fantasy on a FanDuel is utilizing players at the right price - buying low. Below we will compare some of the biggest increases and decreases in player salaries from Week 1 to Week 3. This information can be utilized to find value with reduced prices and to avoid players with inflated salaries. Some salary increases are justified; especially in the case of injuries to starters. However, other price adjustments are too inflated and those players should be avoided at their new price point.

Quarterbacks

There are some really depressed salaries at the quarterback position. I see a lot of value here with Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Drew Brees and Cam Newton. Most of the increased prices are because of injury. Matt Ryan had a huge jump in salary; turning him from a solid value into an overpriced option.

Running Backs

There has been a lot of salary movement at the running back position. Three of the consensus top five preseason fantasy backs (Jamaal Charles, Matt Forte and Eddie Lacy) have each had around a 10% decrease in price. Charles is, of course, not in play for a while, but Forte and Lacy are at a great price right now. Most of the biggest increases in salary are because of injuries to starting players, so their higher prices are mostly justified and should still be considered.

Wide Receivers

Torrey Smith checks in with the biggest salary decrease by far. Smith has looked horrible this year, but his price is getting into a good value play with high upside in guaranteed price pool (GPP) contests. The rest of the guys have looked even worse, and should probably not be used. I'm not too big on any of the players with newly inflated salaries. I will probably stay away from all of them at this price point minus Jeremy Maclin, Jordy Nelson and maybe Percy Harvin (in GPP's).

Tight Ends

I don't see a lot of value with the depressed prices at tight end. At his current salary, Jordan Reed should become a good value when he returns from his injury, depending on the Niles Paul situation. Zach Ertz and Delanie Walker saw a huge increase in salary, which is justified for both players. Ertz and Walker are still in play at their new prices.
