Weekly Rankings: Week 15 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Flex Rankings coming later tonight

Week 16 Notes: One Thursday, two Saturday games ... for now.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

1.Tom Brady TB vs. NO
2.*Josh Allen BUF vs. CAR
Note: Allen sprained his left foot and has a mild case of turf toe, plus was in a walking boot Sunday night. He's day-to-day and is optimistic about playing this weekend. Allen has been limited in practice both Wednesday and Thursday. ***Allen was cleared from the injury list Friday after a more-involved practice.***
3.*Aaron Rodgers GB at BAL
Note: Rodgers aggravated his toe injury Sunday night but will continue to play through it, and not practice much. Rodgers skipped practice once again Wednesday and Thursday. ***Rodgers has been cleared from the injury list.***
4.Kyler Murray ARZ at DET
5.Justin Herbert LAC vs. KC
6.Patrick Mahomes KC at LAC
7.Taysom Hill NO at TB
8.*Dak Prescott DAL at NYG
Note: Prescott was shaky in the win over the Football Team, and will be playing without Tyron Smith protecting his backside at LT this week.
9.Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. NYJ
10.*Matthew Stafford LA vs. SEA
Note: ***Stafford might get some of his teammates back in time for this week, with the game moved to Tuesday.***
11.Jimmy Garoppolo SF vs. ATL
12.Kirk Cousins MIN at CHI
13.*Joe Burrow CIN at DEN
Note: Burrow (finger) was a full participant in practice Thursday.
14.*Justin Fields CHI vs. MIN
Note: Fields suffered a bruised left hand in the loss to the Packers but shouldn't miss any time. Fields was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
15.*Russell Wilson SEA at LAR
Note: ***There's a chance that Wilson might get Tyler Lockett back from the COVID-IR in time for Tuesday's game.***
16.Tyler Huntley BAL vs. GB
17.Ryan Tannehill TEN at PIT
18.*Jalen Hurts PHI vs. WAS
Note: Hurts (ankle) has been limited in practice so far this week, splitting first-team reps with Gardner Minshew. ***Hurts was listed as a full participant in Friday's practice, though there's some dispute over that from those covering the Eagles. He's listed as questionable. The game will now be played on Tuesday.***
19.Jared Goff DET vs. ARI
20.*Ben Roethlisberger PIT vs. TEN
Note: Limited practice Thursday - typical maintenance for him. ***Roethlisberger has been cleared from the injury list.***
21.Teddy Bridgewater DEN vs. CIN
22.Matt Ryan ATL at SF
23.*Mac Jones NE at IND
Note: Jones is tending to a thumb injury but was a full participant Tuesday in practice.
24.*Derek Carr LV at CLE
Note: ***Carr's game has been moved back from Saturday to Monday.***
25.*Cam Newton CAR at BUF
Note: Newton was lifted for P.J. Walker for a while in the loss to the Falcons and will split time with Walker going forward, with even Sam Darnold possibly returning later down the line. Still expected to start Sunday.
26.*Nick Mullens CLE vs. LV
Note: Mullens is next in line to start for the Browns with both Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum on the COVID-IR. ***With the game being moved to Monday, there's a chance that Mayfield could come back in time.***
27.Carson Wentz IND vs. NE
28.Davis Mills HOU at JAX
29.*Trevor Lawrence JAC vs. HOU
Note: Lawrence threw a whopping four picks in the second half in the loss to the Titans.
30.Zach Wilson NYJ at MIA
31.*Garrett Gilbert WAS at PHI
Note: ***Gilbert was claimed off the Patriots' practice squad Friday, and it's possible that he could start for the Football Team on Tuesday. It's also possible practice squad QB Kyle Shurmur could start, or either Kyle Allen or Taylor Heinicke could come off the COVID-IR in time.***
32.*Mike Glennon NYG vs. DAL
Note: Glennon predictably struggled in the loss to the Chargers. He might get another start this week against the Cowboys. ***Daniel Jones has been ruled out again this week.***
33.*Gardner Minshew PHI vs. WAS
Note: Minshew has been splitting first-team reps with Jalen Hurts this week. If it's Minshew that gets the start, I'd put him around 17-18 in the rankings. ***Teammate Jalen Hurts now gets two more days to heal his ankle, with the game moved to Tuesday. Hurts is listed as questionable.***
34.*Lamar Jackson BAL vs. GB
Note: Jackson was diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain in his right ankle suffered in the loss to the Browns. His status for the game against the Packers is uncertain. Jackson has missed the first two practices this week, and the call whether he'll play could go down to the wire, with the Ravens playing at 4:25p ET. My ranking presumes that he will not play. ***Jackson didn't practice again on Friday, but hasn't been ruled out yet - instead he's listed as questionable. Jackson's injury has now been diagnosed as a bone bruise in his ankle rather than a sprain. His status remains up in the air.***
35.P.J. Walker CAR at BUF
36.*Mitchell Trubisky BUF vs. CAR
Note: Trubisky could get called into action, though Josh Allen has logged two limited practices so far.
37.*Kyle Shurmur at
Note: Still on the WFT practice squad, but could get called up in time to start on Tuesday. Or it could be new addition Garrett Gilbert. Or Heinicke or Allen could get activated in time. Or Doug Williams could come out of retirement. The possibilities are endless!***
38.*Daniel Jones NYG vs. DAL
Note: Jones is hoping to be cleared after visiting with a specialist on Monday. Jones has been limited in practice again so far this week. ***Officially ruled out again this week.***
39.*Kyle Allen WAS at PHI
Note: Allen was placed on the COVID-IR after a positive test.
40.*Taylor Heinicke WAS at PHI
Note: Heinicke left with a knee injury in the loss to the Cowboys, giving way to Kyle Allen. Hopefully we'll have more of a prognosis by Wednesday. Heinicke (knee/elbow) had a full practice Wednesday, while Kyle Allen went on the COVID-IR. ***Heinicke was added to the COVID-IR on Friday.***
41.*Baker Mayfield CLE vs. LV
Note: Mayfield was briefly checked for a concussion last week but was cleared after missing two plays. He could be without key OL's, Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper due to a COVID outbreak. Mayfield tested positive and was placed on the COVID-IR, as was backup Case Keenum. Next in line for the Browns is Nick Mullens. ***The game has been moved from Saturday to Monday, so there's a chance that Mayfield could come back in time.***
42.*Case Keenum CLE vs. LV
Note: Keenum tested positive for COVID and has been placed on the COVID-IR. Nick Mullens is next in line for the Browns.

Running Backs

1.Jonathan Taylor IND vs. NE
2.Dalvin Cook MIN at CHI
3.Najee Harris PIT vs. TEN
4.*Aaron Jones GB at BAL
Note: Jones didn't practice Thursday due to an illness. Jones (knee/illness) returned to practice Friday and has been cleared from the injury list.***
5.Cordarrelle Patterson ATL at SF
6.*Nick Chubb CLE vs. LV
Note: I wanted to be higher on Chubb initially, but the Browns injury and COVID issues on their OL had me move him down.
7.*Alvin Kamara NO at TB
Note: ***Kamara could lose a few carries this week with Mark Ingram back.***
8.Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC at LAC
9.Joe Mixon CIN at DEN
10.*Austin Ekeler LAC vs. KC
Note: Ekeler suffered an ankle injury Sunday against the Giants that coach Brandon Staley deemed 'nothing major' despite the metric ton of tape it received. Ekeler was limited at Tuesday's walk-through. Ekeler is active, though Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reported that he may not handle his normal workload.
11.*James Robinson JAC vs. HOU
Note: As much as this is a good matchup for Robinson, there's no such thing as a good matchup for Jaguars players right now. Robinson was rested Thursday after a limited practice Wednesday, and will continue to do so. However, interim coach Darrell Bevel asserted after he replaced Urban Meyer that Robinson was the starting RB and would be treated as such this week - perhaps in reaction to all the noise from the last two weeks. I'm moving him up accordingly. ***Robinson has been removed from the injury list.***
12.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE at IND
Note: ***Teammate Damien Harris has been ruled out, so Stevenson should get a huge workload Saturday night.***
13.Antonio Gibson WAS at PHI
14.*David Montgomery CHI vs. MIN
Note: Montgomery was one of three Bears RBs to miss practice Thursday with an illness. So far only teammate Ryan Nall has been categorized with a COVID case, but be on the lookout here just in case. ***Montgomery had a full practice Friday and has been cleared from the injury list.***
15.*Javonte Williams DEN vs. CIN
Note: Williams sat out practice Thursday with a sore knee, but he's expected to play. ***Williams returned to a limited practice Friday, is listed as questionable, and is expected to play.***
16.*Saquon Barkley NYG vs. DAL
Note: Barkley (ankle) missed practice Wednesday and had a limited practice Thursday. ***Barkley has been removed from the injury list.***
17.*Rashaad Penny SEA at LAR
Note: Penny will be the primary back again this week, though Seattle will continue to rotate backs.
18.Josh Jacobs LV at CLE
19.*Ezekiel Elliott DAL at NYG
Note: Elliott played with a knee brace during the game last week, for the first time this season.
20.Devonta Freeman BAL vs. GB
21.*D'Onta Foreman TEN at PIT
Note: I feel as if I get the Tennessee backfield wrong every week - I regret the errors!
22.*Miles Sanders PHI vs. WAS
Note: Sanders (ankle) has been limited in practice so far this week after coming back from the bye week. ***Cleared to play after a full practice Friday, but so was Jordan Howard, who will likely get the goal line carries.***
23.AJ Dillon GB at BAL
24.*Sony Michel LA vs. SEA
Note: ***Teammate Darrell Henderson has been activated from the COVID-IR, and the game has been moved back. Both facts conspire to lower Michel's ranking.***
25.*Melvin Gordon DEN vs. CIN
Note: Gordon suffered a sprained thumb Sunday but returned and went off against the Lions. Gordon has been limited in both practices so far this week, but he still projects to play. ***Gordon is listed as questionable after limited practices all week.***
26.*Jeff Wilson SF vs. ATL
Note: ***Eli Mitchell has been ruled out, so Wilson will get another start this week against the Falcons in a pretty good spot.***
27.*Michael Carter NYJ at MIA
Note: There's a good chance that Carter (ankle) could return from the IR this week against Miami. He's was getting bell-cow reps before the injury. ***Carter is expected to have a 'significant role' according to coach Robert Saleh.***
28.*Chase Edmonds ARZ at DET
Note: Edmonds (ankle) wasn't activated for the Monday night game, but there might be more urgency this week if James Conner's ankle injury is serious.
29.*Myles Gaskin MIA vs. NYJ
Note: On the COVID-IR. ***Gaskin was activated from the COVID-IR on Friday, and is not on the injury list. However, coach Brian Flores was non-committal whether Gaskin would play on Sunday. Malcom Brown is not yet ready to return, which could bode well for Gaskin's usage.***
30.*Leonard Fournette TB vs. NO
Note: Fournette has sat out practice both Wednesday and Thursday with a sore ankle. ***Fournette returned to practice Friday - one report said he had a full practice, before he was officially listed as limited - and is listed as questionable.***
31.Chuba Hubbard CAR at BUF
32.*James Conner ARZ at DET
Note: Conner injured his ankle on the last play of the game Monday night and will have an MRI. Conner hasn't practiced so far this week. ***Conner returned to a limited practice Friday, and is listed as questionable, with the expectation that he'll play. However, it appears as if Chase Edmonds is also returning this week.***
33.*Jordan Howard PHI vs. WAS
Note: Howard (knee) has been limited in practice two days in a row. ***Howard had a full practice Friday and has been cleared to play. He'll likely take over the goal line carries again.***
34.Devin Singletary BUF vs. CAR
35.*D'Ernest Johnson CLE vs. LV
Note: Johnson took over Kareem Hunt's third down role last week after Hunt got hurt, and Hunt will miss this week.
36.Darrel Williams KC at LAC
37.Dontrell Hilliard TEN at PIT
38.Ty Johnson NYJ at MIA
39.Justin Jackson LAC vs. KC
40.*Darrell Henderson LA vs. SEA
Note: Henderson (COVID) wasn't activated in time for Monday night's game against the Cardinals. ***Henderson has been cleared from the COVID-IR and the game has been pushed back to Tuesday.***
41.Mike Davis ATL at SF
42.*Tony Pollard DAL at NYG
Note: Pollard (foot) returned to practice in limited form on Thursday. ***Pollard had another limited practice Friday and is listed as questionable. He will be a game-time decision. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Pollard is expected to play.***
43.*Mark Ingram NO at TB
Note: ***Ingram has been reinstated from the COVID-IR.***
44.Craig Reynolds DET vs. ARI
45.*Ronald Jones TB vs. NO
Note: Am I going to fall for the RoJo quasi-hype one more time if Fournette sits? Yes, yes I am. ***UPDATE: No, no I'm not. Fournette is expected to play.***
46.Ameer Abdullah CAR at BUF
47.JaMycal Hasty SF vs. ATL
48.Latavius Murray BAL vs. GB
49.Boston Scott PHI vs. WAS
50.Devontae Booker NYG vs. DAL
51.*Travis Homer SEA at LAR
Note: Homer (calf/hamstring) could come back this week. Homer logged a full practice Wednesday and his status could become more important with Alex Collins on the COVID-IR.
52.*Tevin Coleman NYJ at MIA
Note: Coleman (concussion) appears to be progressing through the concussion protocol, but his problem now is that Michael Carter will likely be back this week. ***Coleman has been cleared to play.***
53.*Brandon Bolden NE at IND
Note: Bolden (knee) was limited at Tuesday's practice, coming off the bye. Bolden (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday night. ***Bolden is listed as questionable, while Damien Harris is out.***
54.*David Johnson HOU at JAX
Note: Johnson was cleared from the COVID-IR on Monday. Meanwhile, Rex Burkhead got hurt last week. Johnson will start and be backed up by Royce Freeman this week. ***All of a sudden Burkhead has been upgraded to questionable, so Johnson's playing time is less clear.***
55.*Eno Benjamin ARZ at DET
Note: Teammate James Conner hasn't practiced yet this week, and even if Chase Edmonds returns, he's unlikely to carry a full load in his first week back.
56.*Duke Johnson MIA vs. NYJ
Note: Added from the Dolphins' practice squad with their top three backs on the COVID-IR.
57.Joshua Kelley LAC vs. KC
58.Samaje Perine CIN at DEN
59.Kenneth Gainwell PHI vs. WAS
60.Matt Breida BUF vs. CAR
61.*Khalil Herbert CHI vs. MIN
Note: Herbert sat out Thursday's practice with an illness. ***Full practice Friday.***
62.*Rex Burkhead HOU at JAX
Note: Burkhead is day-to-day with a hip injury. Limited practice Thursday, and unlikely to play this week. ***Burkhead has been upgraded to questionable and there's a chance he can play Sunday.***
63.*Jermar Jefferson DET vs. ARI
Note: Jefferson was battling an illness last week, so practice squad addition Craig Reynolds got the work. It's possible that both Swift and Williams will return this week, so Jefferson's minimal window could be shut. ***Lions RB coach Duce Staley said that he expects Jefferson will get more playing time this week.***
64.Wayne Gallman MIN at CHI
65.*Austin Walter NYJ at MIA
Note: Walter left last week's game with an illness.
66.Godwin Igwebuike DET vs. ARI
67.Jeremy McNichols TEN at PIT
68.Nyheim Hines IND vs. NE
69.Royce Freeman HOU at JAX

71.*Salvon Ahmed MIA vs. NYJ
Note: On the COVID-IR. ***Ahmed has been activated from the COVID-IR.***
72.Kene Nwangwu MIN at CHI
73.*Tony Jones NO at TB
Note: ***Mark Ingram has been reinstated from the COVID-IR, so Jones's playing time will likely be sparse.***
74.Demetric Felton CLE vs. LV

Note: Collins tested positive but is vaccinated, so it's possible he could still play this weekend. ***The Seahawks were able to buy two extra days with the game getting moved to Tuesday.***
76.*Zack Moss BUF vs. CAR
Note: Healthy inactive once again in the loss to the Bucs.
77.*Damien Harris NE at IND

Note: Mitchell (concussion/knee) is still not practicing as of Thursday. ***Mitchell has been ruled out for this week and next week is looking dicey, with the Niners playing on Thursday.***
79.*Carlos Hyde JAC vs. HOU
Note: Hyde has sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday with a concussion. ***Hyde has been ruled out this week.***
80.*J.D. McKissic WAS at PHI
Note: McKissic (concussion) has missed two practices in a row after missing the last two games. ***McKissic still hasn't cleared the concussion protocol, and didn't practice at all on Friday, so the extra two days might not help him that much.***
81.*Malcolm Brown MIA vs. NYJ
Note: Brown (quadriceps) could return from the IR this week, with Gaskin, Lindsay and Ahmed all on the COVID IR. Brown was designated to return to practice on Thursday. ***Not yet ready to return.***
82.*Kareem Hunt CLE vs. LV

Note: Mattison is on the COVID-IR and in a 10-day quarantine because he's unvaccinated.
86.*D'Andre Swift DET vs. ARI

87.*DeeJay Dallas SEA at LAR
88.*Phillip Lindsay MIA vs. NYJ
Note: On the COVID-IR. ***Unlike teammates Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed, Lindsay was not activated from the COVID-IR and won't be eligible to play Sunday.***

22.DeVonta Smith PHI vs. WAS
23.*DeVante Parker MIA vs. NYJ
Note: The Dolphins could be without Jalen Waddle, plus all of their RBs. So Parker, Albert Wilson and Mack Hollins could all be busy.
24.*Odell Beckham LA vs. SEA
Note: Tested positive for COVID and placed on the COVID-IR. ***Activated from the COVID-IR with the Rams playing on Tuesday.***
25.Jerry Jeudy DEN vs. CIN
26.Darnell Mooney CHI vs. MIN
27.Michael Gallup DAL at NYG
28.Julio Jones TEN at PIT
29.Christian Kirk ARZ at DET
30.*Terry McLaurin WAS at PHI
Note: McLaurin suffered a concussion early in the loss to the Cowboys and is in the the protocol this week. Sat out practice Wednesday, bumped up to a limited practice Thursday. ***McLaurin had a full practice Saturday and likely will be activated from the concussion protocol in time for the game, which got moved to Tuesday. Thus, I'm moving him up now - just have a replacement handy in case he doesn't clear the final step in the protocol.***
31.Amon-Ra St. Brown DET vs. ARI
32.K.J. Osborn MIN at CHI

53.Mack Hollins MIA vs. NYJ
54.DeAndre Carter WAS at PHI

23.*Austin Ekeler LAC vs.
24.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE at IND
Note: ***Teammate Damien Harris has been ruled out, so Stevenson should get a huge workload Saturday night.***
25.*James Robinson JAC vs.

55.*Michael Carter NYJ at MIA
Note: There's a good chance that Carter (ankle) could return from the IR this week against Miami. He's was getting bell-cow reps before the injury. ***Carter is expected to have a 'significant role' according to coach Robert Saleh.***
56.*Jeff Wilson SF vs. ATL
Note: ***Eli Mitchell has been ruled out, so Wilson will get another start this week against the Falcons in a pretty good spot.***
57.*Sony Michel LA vs. SEA
Note: ***Teammate Darrell Henderson has been activated from the COVID-IR, and the game has been moved back. Both facts conspire to lower Michel's ranking.***

Note: Valdes-Scantling has been limited with a back injury. ***MVS had limited practices all week and is listed as questionable.***
69.Russell Gage ATL at SF
70.*Rashod Bateman BAL vs. GB
Note: Who knew it would take Tyler Huntley to unlock Bateman? It looks like Sammy Watkins could return after practicing Thursday, which would cut into Bateman's reps. ***Check that - Watkins was added to the COVID-IR on Saturday.***
71.*Gabriel Davis BUF vs. CAR
Note: Davis will get a bump in targets with Emmanuel Sanders out.
72.Chuba Hubbard CAR at BUF
73.*Myles Gaskin MIA vs.
74.Ameer Abdullah CAR at BUF

76.Mike Gesicki MIA vs. NYJ
77.Dawson Knox BUF vs. CAR
78.Pat Freiermuth PIT vs. TEN
