DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jimmy Howard, Det vs. Col ($8,000): Howard is working with some of the best peripheral marks of his career (2.23 GAA, .931 save percentage), and the Avalanche own the worst faceoff win rate in the league, meaning the Wings -- who have won two straight games -- are likely to dominate puck possession and provide Howard with ample offensive support.

CENTER

Rickard Rakell, Ana vs. Fla ($6,900): The Swede has fashioned eight points (one goals, seven assists) in his past six games and that includes four power-play apples. Rakell is softening the blow caused by the long-term absence of Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf (face) plus he's cemented on the top line.

Vincent Trocheck, Fla vs. Ana ($6,200): Tro is deployed heavily -- he's utilized on the power play (3:47) and penalty kill (2:25), amounting to a whopping 21:12 of ice time this season. Especially on a smaller slate, you'll want a guy that gets a lot of chances. Look no further.

WING

David Perron, VGK vs. Los Angeles ($4,900): Perron will be a trendy pick given that he's crafted an active six-game point streak, but it'll be tough to resist his budget-friendly price tag. The veteran has tremendous on-ice vision, hence his already reaching double-digits in helpers (11) this season.

Sebastian Aho, Car vs. NYI ($5,400): Aho is a star in the making, and he's strung together a three-game point streak with three goals and just as many assists over that span. The Islanders may rank third in scoring, but their tenders have been collectively allowing 3.21 goals per game which is better than only eight teams.

DEFENSE

Johnny Boychuk, NYI at Car ($4,700): Generally known more for his punishing style of play than his scoring acumen, Boychuk's been incredibly efficient with a plus-7 rating and 17 blocked shots over his last five games. It's his consistency in redirecting shots that gives him a high floor in DFS, but don't forget that he's dropped 20-plus points in each of the last four seasons.

Mike Green, Det vs. Col ($4,400): Green is really the lone offensive threat from Detroit's blue line, racking up one goal and 16 assists through 20 games -- with more than half of the assist total taking place on the man advantage. As an added bonus, Colorado will assign backup Jonathan Bernier between the pipes; the guy has been shredded for 22 goals in six appearances to give him a hideous 3.71 GAA and .887 save percentage on the year.
