SLATE PREVIEW
FanDuel's all-day slate will feature 11 games, otherwise four of them will be available for the early-only slate beginning at 1 p.m. EDT and the remaining seven on the main slate at 7 p.m.
The key games to watch include:
Rangers at Flyers (1 p.m.) with the winner potentially moving to within one point of the Bruins and the final playoff spot in the East as the Flyers continue to implode.
Golden Knights at Avalanche (3 p.m.) with Vegas looking to avenge a blowout loss and continue their battle for the West Division lead and avoid a potential first-round clash with the surprisingly solid Wild.
Oilers at Maple Leafs (7 p.m.) with a showdown between two of the league's biggest stars and the North's two highest-scoring teams as the race for the division banner heats up.
Panthers at Stars (8 p.m.) with the Stars looking to move up the standings, currently sitting sixth in points percentage but having played fewer games than the rest of the division.
GOALIES
Laurent Brossoit, WPG at CGY ($8,400): It just seems so unlikely head coach Darryl Sutter's squad would lose two in a row despite all the talk about being tougher to play against, but the Jets have the clear edge in net with the battle of the backups. Brossoit held the Flames to just two goals on 31 shots on Feb. 2.
Jack Campbell, TOR vs. EDM ($8,000): Campbell has yet to play a bad game this season, though the Oilers' offense is admittedly terrifying. Since the Edmonton goalies come in with the same salary, the edge should go to Campbell and the Leafs who are playing at home and are already 5-1 against the Oilers this season while playing solid defense.
Jaroslav Halak, BOS vs. BUF ($7,800): Halak probably gets the start after replacing Tuukka Rask on Thursday. Halak will be a popular value pick because it's the Sabres and also because they just dealt Eric Staal to the Canadiens and will have *checks notes* yup, Dylan Cozens as their top center.
Kevin Lankinen, CHI vs. NSH ($7,100): Lankinen was brilliant in two games against the Panthers sans Aleksander Barkov. And in his last start against the Predators, he only allowed one goal on 42 shots despite losing in a shootout. The Preds' recent play has inspired more confidence, but keep in mind it was the Dead Things they beat up.
VALUE PLAYS
Roope Hintz, DAL vs. FLA ($5,500): Hintz has been fantastic this season with 21 points and is looking to extend his point streak to four games. He's a top-10 center based on fantasy points per game and outperforming No. 1 pivots on other teams.
Oliver Wahlstrom, NYI at PIT ($4,000): Linemate Anthony Beauvillier ($4,200) is also a decent play but at a slightly higher salary. Wahlstrom has scored four goals in his past five games and offers more upside than Michael Dal Colle ($3,400) or Leo Komarov ($3,200) even though they play on the top two lines.
Jared McCann, PIT at NYI ($3,800): McCann will remain the Pens' second-line center while Evgeni Malkin is unavailable, and it really doesn't feel like Mark Jankowski is a threat to take his job. That means McCann will continue to get more offensive opportunities than usual.
LINE STACKS
Bruins vs. Sabres
Patrice Bergeron (C - $7,300), Brad Marchand (W - $7,500), David Pastrnak (W - $8,300)
The Sabres' streak has to end sometime, but a veteran Bruins' squad with a history of winning is unlikely to be upset. This line was flat-out dominant in their 4-1 win against the Sabres on Mar. 18.
Rangers at Flyers
Mika Zibanejad (C - $7,600), Chris Kreider (W - $6,700), Pavel Buchnevich (W - $5,900)
The statistical odds were already miniscule for any player to score six points in two separate games against the same opponent, but the Flyers' defense has been so horrible a potential third occurrence feels less implausible. Note Zibanejad's 4.0 S% heading into the first six-point game against the Rangers was uncharacteristically low and has since climbed to 10.4, which is closer to but still behind his career 12.7 mark. To match his career average, Zibanejad will have to score three goals on his next six shots, which is one more than he needed last outing.
Penguins vs. Islanders
Sidney Crosby (C - $8,200), Jake Guentzel (W - $7,500), Bryan Rust (W - $5,800)
Something about the Isles brings out the best in Crosby, who's racked up 120 points in 73 games. This line will surely play plenty of minutes with the Pens missing their entire second line due to injury.
DEFENSEMEN
Dougie Hamilton, CAR vs. TB ($6,500): This matchup will be Hamilton's toughest test since his record-setting point streak began, but note he's managed to register a point against every team in his division. Through five games against the Lightning, he's managed two assists and 13 shots on goal.
Roman Josi, NSH at CHI ($6,500): Josi might edge Hamilton as the better option simply due to the matchup. The Hawks have allowed 34.6 shots per game and 3.64 goals per game in March, third and fourth-worst in the league, respectively.
Adam Fox, NYR at PHI ($5,600): There doesn't seem to be a quick fix for the Flyers' defensive woes. And to the Rangers' credit, they've taken full advantage. Fox notched five assists last game to extend his point streak to five.
Devon Toews, COL vs. VGK ($4,600): Toews enters as a good value play relative to teammates Cale Makar and Samuel Girard, both of whom carry a higher salary. Picking Toews at least gives you exposure to a potent Avs' offense and at even strength will be paired with Makar.
Matt Grzelcyk, BOS vs. BUF ($4,200): Grzelcyk is a solid value play as the quarterback for PP1 while playing with Charlie McAvoy on the top pairing at even strength. The Bruins power play has gone 7-for-32 since Grzelcyk's return and just 3-for-18 when he's out of the lineup.
