Dream11 Fantasy Soccer: UEFA Champions League Final Preview

This article is part of our Daily Fantasy Soccer Cheat Sheet series.

Match Preview

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur clash in the final of the UEFA Champions League in Madrid on Saturday.

The Reds are playing their second consecutive final in the competition, though this time they come in as clear favorites; Jurgen Klopp's side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid last season. Their path to the final included an incredibly impressive comeback against Barcelona, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 aggregate win.

On the other hand, Spurs' journey to their first-ever Champions League final is nothing short of a roller coaster. After being placed in arguably the group of death, the North London club were on the brink of an early exit, as they just managed to accumulate just one point after three matches. However, Mauricio Pochettino's men registered seven more in the remaining three and qualified ahead of Serie A side Inter Milan because of a better head-to-head record.

Then at the quarter-final stage, Spurs were up against fiery Manchester City, where in the second leg they were saved by VAR as Raheem Sterling's stoppage-time winner was ruled out because Sergio Aguero was offside. If that drama was not enough, they made one of the best comebacks in the history of the competition, scoring three goals in the second-half of the second-leg during the semi-final against Ajax, with Lucas Moura scoring the winner in the 96th minute.

In the previous 44 meetings between both teams, Liverpool have won 20 times versus Spurs' 12.

Predicted Lineups

Liverpool: Alisson Becker

Predicted Lineups

Liverpool: Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino

Tottenham Hotspur: Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane

Combined XI

Player Recommendations

Virgil van Dijk (D): van Dijk is arguably the best player at his position. The Dutch international is having an outstanding season for the club, where he has proven to be rock solid in defense. With so much at stake, Klopp will be hoping that his star performer will have another stellar performance.

Christian Eriksen (M): Eriksen is perhaps one of the most underrated footballers in the world. The Danish international is one of the best in his position, and the Spurs attack moves thanks to his contributions. In fact, he's been so instrumental for the club that it could be his last match for them, with Real Madrid heavily linked to the 27-year-old.

Mohamed Salah (F): Salah finished the league campaign as the joint-highest scorer with 22 goals, and he also added four more and two assists during Champions League play. After leaving last year's final due to a shoulder injury, Salah will surely be looking to make his mark this time around.

Captain pick: Virgil van Dijk

Vice-captain pick: Christian Eriksen
