Closer Watch

Miami – A.J. Ramos had converted six saves in his last six appearance, but wound up blowing Tuesday's save and taking a loss by giving up a game-winning home run to Edwin Encarnacion. His performance so far has warranted some leeway in the closer's job.

Seattle – Fernando Rodney appears to have been relieved from closing duties and Carson Smith has earned saves in his last two appearances, including Tuesday's save. Smith allowed a run before shutting down the Indians Tuesday, nonetheless he appears to be gaining steam as Seattle's closer.

Recommended Pickup

Ben Paulsen, 1B, COL – With Justin Morneau's concussion symptoms lingering, Paulsen and Wilin Rosario have been splitting first base duties in the Mile High City. As the left-handed hitter in this platoon, Paulsen figures to get a larger share of the pie and he has performed well in his 62 at-bats. Of course, Paulsen is aided by Coors Field, but he has a higher OPS on the road (1.154) than at home (.988). Both are small sample sizes. However, Paulsen has a good minor league track record and had 24 home runs combined at Triple-A and with the Rockies last year with an OPS over .900. At the minimum, daily lineup leagues can gain from the platoon scenario, as well as Coors Field starts.

Other Recent Recommendations:Carlos Correa, Carson Smith, Cameron Maybin, Joe Ross, Joey Butler, Lance McCullers
