Closer Watch

Washington – Brad Lidge, after being summoned from the bullpen to close out Tuesday's game against the Astros, allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base before getting three straight outs to lock up the Nationals' 1-0 victory. His save comes a day after Henry Rodriguez successfully preserved a ninth-inning lead, and gives each pitcher two saves for the season. It looks like Davey Johnson is sticking true to his plan to alternate closers, which will limit the save numbers for both players. However, Rodriguez has been the more effective of the duo, posting eight strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA through 5.1 innings, making him the slightly better fantasy option of the duo.

Recommended Pickup

R.A. Dickey, SP, NYM – Dickey, not Roy Halladay or Clayton Kershaw or Justin Verlander, has the most consecutive quality starts – at least six innings with three earned runs or less – with 14, dating all the way back to July 25. Owned in 13 percent and 29 percent of leagues on ESPN and Yahoo!, respectively, this knuckleballer is somehow putting up these numbers without much attention. Over that quality start span, he has a 2.58 ERA and a decent sub-1.20 WHIP. With the Mets' hot start this year, he may be able to put up better than an 8-13 record, as evidenced with his 2-0 start already.

Other Recent Recommendations: Bryan LaHair, Danny Duffy, Santiago Casilla, Tom Milone, Jose Altuve
