OwnersBox NFL DFS: Week 14 Picks

This article is part of our DFS NFL series.

OwnersBox's SuperFlex contests provide participants with a chance to roster up to two quarterbacks per lineup, opening up the opportunity for major scoring boosts and a more entertaining fantasy sweat overall.

Each week of the NFL regular season, we'll break down appealing candidates in the main Sunday slate for OwnersBox's NFL SuperFlex DFS contests.

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes, KC vs. LVR ($7,700)

Mahomes is nowhere near the "set it and forget it" play that he's been in past seasons, but that makes him all the more intriguing for tournament play in Week 14. The one-time MVP has scored just five and 12 fantasy points in the last two games, and he's been at 15 or less fantasy points in six of the last eight games overall. However, one of the two contests during that span in which he's produced a spectacular result came against this same Raiders squad back in Week 10, in which he racked up 50 fantasy points on the strength of a 406-yard, five-touchdown effort in Las Vegas. Mahomes scored 25 to 41 fantasy points in five of the first six games of the season – a tangible reminder of his upside – and the Raiders check in allowing 256.8 passing yards per road contest, along with a 68.7 percent completion rate.

Russell Wilson, SEA at HOU ($7,100)

Wilson is another prominent quarterback that's been a shadow of himself at times this season, but he seems to be returning to form the further he's removed from his stint on injured reserve due to a finger fracture. Wilson has scored 23 and 17 fantasy points in his last two games while producing a 4:1 TD:INT and 31 rushing yards. For what it's worth, Wilson has been excellent in his prior encounters against AFC South opponents this season, throwing for 597 yards and a 6:0 TD:INT against the Colts and Titans, and the Texans present a much more palatable matchup. Houston has allowed a 66.2 percent completion rate overall, along with the ninth-highest yards per completion at home (11.1).

ALSO CONSIDER: Justin Herbert, LAC vs. NYG ($7,700)

Running Backs

Alvin Kamara, NO at NYJ ($7,300)

After practicing fully Wednesday, Kamara appears set for a return four-game absence in Week 14. Meanwhile, backfield mate Mark Ingram went on the reserve/COVID-19 list that same day, certainly endangering his status for this matchup. The Jets present as an excellent matchup for Kamara, as New York has allowed 133.4 rushing yards per game overall, along with 4.6 RB yards per carry. Gang Green has surrendered the third-most receptions (85), second-most receiving yards (753) and four touchdowns to running backs through the air, which are extremely relevant metrics considering Kamara's elite ability as a pass catcher. New Orleans' will likely be eager to get Kamara heavily involved in passing game, especially with receiver Deonte Harris out due to a suspension.

Chuba Hubbard, CAR vs. ATL ($5,300)

Hubbard appears set to reclaim the reins of the backfield with Christian McCaffrey (ankle) now on injured reserve. While there's been one big change in the offense since Hubbard had a chance to spell his star teammate earlier in the season, he still makes for a very viable play at his salary. Cam Newton is a candidate to vulture some carries from Hubbard in prime territory or on designed runs from time to time, but the rookie running back should still enjoy a solid workload through both the ground and air. Hubbard averaged 20.4 touches per game during his five-game stint as the lead back from Weeks 4-8, a stint that ended with a 24-carry workload against the Falcons that netted 12 fantasy points. Atlanta comes in allowing 119.3 rushing yards per contest, along with a 78-590-3 line through the air to RBs, making the Falcons ideal targets to facilitate a solid return on investment in Hubbard.

ALSO CONSIDER: Javonte Williams, DEN vs. DET ($6,100)

Wide Receivers

Stefon Diggs, BUF at TB ($7,200)

Diggs was largely nullified by the Patriots' suffocating defense in Week 13, but the star wideout had scored 14 to 30 fantasy points in the prior six games, and he's logged at least seven targets on 10 occasions. Diggs could be a tad less rostered than usual due to the perceived tough matchup against the Buccaneers defense on the road, but Tampa Bay has given up the sixth-most receptions (163) to wideouts, along with 11 touchdowns to the position. The Bucs have also allowed a 69.0 percent completion rate at home, and although Tampa has done a good job forcing throws into the short and intermediate areas of the field, Diggs could certainly get to a strong return on volume, especially in a game where Buffalo figures to have to pass even more than usual due to the Bucs' impenetrable run defense.

DK Metcalf, SEA at HOU ($6,400)

Metcalf is another member of the Seahawks' once-vaunted air attack that's fallen on hard times of late, but the big-bodied wideout naturally still carries no shortage of upside. It's also important to note that Metcalf continues to see a solid allotment of targets, having logged eight targets in three of the past four games. Metcalf has one double-digit fantasy-point tally in that four-game sample, hinting he's due for a breakout if he continues to see the same level of volume. Meanwhile, the Texans have allowed a 68.4 percent catch rate and 13.5 yards per grab to receivers, along with the second-highest explosive pass play rate (14%) in the league.

Jarvis Landry, CLE vs. BAL ($5,700)

Landry is likely to be a bit under the radar coming off a bye week and with his quarterback dealing with multiple injuries, but the veteran receiver could enjoy a busy day in this key divisional battle for Cleveland. Landry posted a 6-111 line against the Ravens in Week 12, and Baltimore is now without star cornerback Marlon Humphrey (pectoral) for the remainder of the season. What's more, the Ravens' other starting corner Anthony Averett is dealing with shoulder, ankle and knee injuries. Landry, meanwhile, has seen at least eight targets in four of the six games he's played since coming off IR. Baltimore is allowing an AFC-high 272.4 passing yards per contest as well, a figure that could start going up in Humphrey's absence.

ALSO CONSIDER: Tyler Lockett, SEA at HOU ($6,600)

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce, KC vs. LVR ($6,900)

Kelce's inclusion as a suggestion typically doesn't require much explanation, but he's in an especially good spot in Week 14. The All-Pro tight end racked up 19 fantasy points on the strength of an 8-119 line on 10 targets versus the Raiders in Week 10, and Las Vegas continues to bleed production to the tight end position. The Raiders have surrendered the second-most receiving yards to tight ends (813), along with the third-most touchdowns (9) and fourth-most receptions (73) to the position. Kelce has scored at least 17 fantasy points on eight occasions this season, giving him a very safe floor in this rematch.

Dalton Schultz, DAL at WAS ($5,100)

He has been one of Dak Prescott's most trusted targets all season, and Schultz will enter Sunday's key divisional matchup having scored nine to 15 fantasy points in the last three games. He's logged at least five targets in 10 of 12 contests and faces a Washington team that's surrendered a 59-679-4 tally to tight ends, along with passer ratings of over 100 in three areas of the field where Schultz has found much of his success. While the Football Team has allowed 15 touchdowns through the air and a 73.0 percent completion rate in the short left, short right and deep middle passing windows, Schultz has a combined 41-423-3 line in those portions of the field.

ALSO CONSIDER: Dawson Knox, BUF at TB ($5,200)
