Recommended Pickup

Carlos Gomez, OF, MIL – Gomez is on fire and it's not just over the last few games. He has posted a slash line of .320/.386/.620 over the past three weeks. His four homers over that time have shown a sort of unexpected power he hasn't often displayed. The real value with Gomez, though, comes in that .386 OBP considering the more than he is on base, the more he can take advantage of his blazing speed.

There is a reason that eight of Gomez's 19 stolen bases in 2012 have come over this three-week stretch. He continues to get to first base. That power isn't sustainable. Gomez isn't going to be anything close to a .620 slugger – or even a .500 slugger – the rest of the way, but he fits perfectly with a team that is looking for steals. If that OBP remains high, his slugging could drop 200 points and he could still provide elite value in the steals category.
