Minnesota
at Missouri
Minnesota welcomed a new head coach in the offseason, hiring Niko Medved from Colorado State. During his tenure with the Rams, Medved established himself as a highly sought-after coach, thanks to his teams consistently overachieving and developing a potent offensive attack.
Specifically, in three of his past four years at CSU, Medved began the season on KenPom's efficiency chart ranked between 70 and 80, and they finished each season ranked in the top 50.
Additionally, the Rams finished each of the past four seasons ranked in the top-60 of offensive efficiency, peaking at 24th in 2022, and finishing last year at 40th.
Missouri, meanwhile, enters the fourth year under head coach Dennis Gates, and he, too, has developed a reputation for having strong offensive teams. The Tigers ranked in the top 10 in offensive efficiency in both 2022-23 and 2024-25, and KenPom projects this year will have similar results, as the team currently has the 17th-highest offensive rating in the nation.
Considering the impressive offensive numbers that each coach has overseen, I believe there's a good chance we'll have a ton of points scored on Wednesday. Missouri also frequently pushes the tempo, ranking 53rd in average offensive possession length last year, which should further boost the final point total. I'm taking the over.

UC San Diego
at Fresno State
The Tritons made a name for themselves last year, earning a 12-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Considering the success of the relatively new D1 basketball program, it's no surprise to see that last year's coach, Eric Olen, was hired away. Now, Clint Allard leads the charge, and as someone who's been with the program before its ascension to D1, it's reasonable to expect some of the success to continue.
According to UC San Diego Athletics, as the associate head coach during the 2024-25 season, Allard was responsible for leading the team's defensive strategy, which was ranked among the top in the nation. Specifically, the team boasted the 30th-best adjusted defensive efficiency rating.
The current team has a much more modest standing at the moment, ranked 160th in defense, but one would think coach Allard can improve that number throughout the season.
At the other end of the court, UC San Diego ranks 131st in adj. efficiency, which isn't spectacular, although it's massively better than Fresno State, which ranks 213th in the same category.
Given the much better offense and recent defensive success, I'm taking UC San Diego in this matchup.

North Texas
at Oregon State
North Texas opened the season at 3-0, but it nearly lost its recent outing against Loyola Chicago. Thankfully for the Mean Green, the Ramblers made just 5-of-26 three-point attempts (.192), thereby allowing North Texas to escape with a win, 64-62.
When looking at the team profile, a significant stat that jumps out is its continuity, or lack thereof. The team hired a new head coach in the offseason, Daniyal Robinson, formerly of Cleveland State, so it's no surprise to see that he brought in a brand new roster, including a few of his players from Cleveland State. Even still, there's a greater amount of certainty with this team given the drastic turnover.
In stark contrast, Oregon State enters its 12th year under head coach Wayne Tinkle. The program reached a high point in 2021 when it made the Elite Eight, although it's had some low moments in recent years as well. Regardless, the Beavers have consistently played well at home. Last year, in its first season in the West Coast Conference, Oregon State defeated Gonzaga at home in overtime, 97-89. In the prior season, the Beavers only won five of 20 conference games, and yet they still managed to defeat Arizona in Corvallis, 83-80.
At this early stage in the season, I'd rather take the home team with greater continuity. I'm going with Oregon State.
