WNBA DFS Strategies for August 30 Game Analysis
The Lynx are overwhelming favorites ahead of this game -- and for good reason. They hold a six-game lead in the race for the first overall seed ahead of the playoffs, while the Sun are 18 games below the .500 mark. Surprisingly, however, Connecticut has performed better in recent results. The Sun are 4-1 over their last five games, tied for second in the WNBA, while the Lynx are 2-3 over that stretch, coming off a loss to Seattle the last time out.
When looking at players worth targeting for this slate, it's not a surprise to see Napheesa Collier as one of the most expensive players in the overall slate. She should feast against a struggling Sun defense. Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams are also expected to handle high usage rates for Minnesota. Some of the Connecticut players worth looking at include Leila Lacan, Marina Mabrey and Aneesah Morrow.

Top WNBA DFS Picks and Player Value Today
The Valkyries are one of several teams in the running for the eighth seed in the playoffs, but despite going 2-3 over their last five games, they still hold a 4.0 game lead over the ninth-placed team, the Sparks. The Mystics are seven games below .500 and eight behind the Valkyries in the race for a playoff berth, so they're pretty much out of the running and already thinking about ways to improve the roster for the 2026 campaign.
The Valkyries go as Veronica Burton goes, and the play of the star guard not only could lead Golden State to another victory, but she could lead your team to glory as well. The Mystics are expected to rely on the rookie duo of Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, as has been the case all season long. Shakira Austin is a player to avoid -- she's the second-most expensive player on the Mystics' roster but has been slumping lately.

Maximize Your WNBA DFS Lineups with Key Player Insights
The Storm sit in seventh place in the overall standings ahead of the playoffs and are two games above .500, so their spot in the postseason is pretty much locked in. The team is also on a good run of results, having gone 4-1 over their last five contests, the second-best mark in the league behind the Aces, who hold the longest winning streak in the league. As for the Sky, they're already out of the playoffs after winning just nine of 38 games to date and are also riding a three-game losing streak.
This matchup between Seattle and Chicago will be loaded with frontcourt players from a fantasy perspective: Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Nneka Ogwumike are all players worth targeting to anchor your lineups -- regardless of the slate you choose to play. Gabby Williams and Skylar Diggins are also valuable, cheaper options on the Storm roster.

Injury Reports and Team Trends for WNBA DFS Success
The Mercury and Liberty have locked up playoff berths already, though their seeding remains to be decided. There's a significant difference between finishing fourth or fifth in the standings, as that determines whether a team hosts a potential series finale or not. The Mercury hold a 0.5-game lead over New York while playing one fewer game. By all accounts, this game could have massive positioning implications ahead of the playoffs. Both teams have been playing well, too, with the Mercury winning three in a row and the Liberty on a two-game winning streak.
The Liberty have been significantly depleted lately and could be without the likes of Jonquel Jones (illness), Sabrina Ionescu (toe) and Natasha Cloud (nose) for this Saturday. Thus, relying on Breanna Stewart would be the best course of action, while Emma Meesseman and Loenie Fiebich could be solid value-based pickups depending on your lineup strategy. The Mercury will feature one of the most coveted players on the slate in Alyssa Thomas, whereas Kahleah Copper, Satou Sabally and Natasha Mack are solid complementary targets as well.
Optimizing WNBA DFS Showdown Lineups for Saturday's Games
DraftKings:
- Alyssa Thomas ($13,500)
- Napheesa Collier ($12,800)
- Nneka Ogwumike ($10,600)
Thomas should be the most popular player on the slate despite being one of the biggest salaries, but there's no question that she justifies the massive investment. Thomas closed Thursday's 83-79 victory over Chicago with 15 points (4-6 FG, 7-8 FT), nine rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals in 33 minutes, putting up another impressive display on both ends of the court. The star forward has notched six triple-doubles across her last 12 games while averaging 14.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.6 blocks per game in August.
There's a strong case for Collier to be named the MVP for the 2025 WNBA season, as she's been the best player in the league's best team by a wide margin. Collier missed seven games in August due to a sprained right ankle, but she's racked up 50 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in her two appearances since her return. The star forward is averaging a career-high 23.6 points per game this season. She's also recorded 7.6 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest.
Ogwumike is expected to engage in a grueling battle with the Sky's frontcourt of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, but that shouldn't stop her from posting a solid line. The veteran center is averaging 19.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 13 appearances since the beginning of August, and has emerged as Seattle's most consistent performer in that stretch.
Unlocking Value: WNBA DFS Sleeper Picks
- Iliana Rupert ($6,400)
- Alysha Clark ($3,900)
- Erica Wheeler ($4,300)
FanDuel
- Angel Reese ($7,700)
- Breanna Stewart ($7,800)
- Veronica Burton ($6,600)
Reese has been a double-double machine this season, and the star forward should be the Sky's most dangerous weapon on both ends of the court. Her ability to make an impact on both sides of the ball is massive for fantasy purposes, and the numbers back her up. Reese has made seven appearances since the All-Star break after dealing with a back injury and is averaging 15.6 points, 12.7 boards, 3.6 assists and a combined 2.0 steals-plus-blocks per game in that stretch.
The Liberty will be depleted on both sides of the ball and lacking star power for Saturday's slate, meaning that Stewart will be the one in charge of carrying the team on offense. The star forward recently returned from a 13-game absence due to a knee injury and hasn't missed a step in her two outings since the return, posting totals of 31 points and 14 rebounds while logging less than 25 minutes in both contests.
Burton will be one of the most sought-after players on this slate without a doubt. Burton piled up 25 points (7-17 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five rebounds, 13 assists and four blocks in 38 minutes during the 90-81 win over Dallas on Aug. 24, and it remains to be seen if the prolonged rest will slow Burton down. Her numbers in recent weeks justify any investment made in her from a fantasy perspective, though. She's averaging 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks per game since the beginning of August.
Unlocking Value: WNBA DFS Sleeper Picks
- Kiki Iriafen ($6,500)
- Kaila Charles ($4,300)
- Leonie Fiebich ($5,300)
