Carolina Panthers RB Roles
Team: Carolina Panthers
Last Update:   6/19/2025
RB Overview
Role Security: Medium
6/19/25 - Chuba Hubbard led the team with 250 carries, 54 targets, and a 64% red zone share in 2024. He projects as the lead RB again, but may face stronger competition. Rico Dowdle, who handled 235 carries and 49 targets with Dallas last year, could challenge for a meaningful role in training camp. Rookie Trevor Etienne was a 4th-round pick and is likely to handle passing-down duties as the No. 3 RB. Jonathon Brooks is expected to miss significant time due to another ACL tear.
WR Overview
6/19/25 - First-round pick Tetairoa McMillan should step in immediately as the team’s No. 1 WR. Adam Thielen, primarily a slot option, may remain the No. 2 target after averaging 6.2 looks per game in 2024. Xavier Legette is expected to retain an outside starting role after earning 84 targets as a rookie. Jalen Coker and David Moore will compete for depth chart positioning.
TE Overview
6/19/25 - A tight end competition is expected in training camp between Tommy Tremble (32 targets), Ja’Tavion Sanders (43 targets), and rookie Mitchell Evans, a 5th-round pass-catching prospect. No clear favorite has emerged yet.
