Detroit Lions RB Roles
Team: Detroit Lions
Last Update:   3/20/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: High
03/20/24 At the end of 2023, Jahmyr Gibbs was playing about 55% of the snaps to 45% for David Montgomery. However, the touches between them were often even. Both players were splitting the goal-line usage. Montgomery handled more of the between-the-tackles running plays. Gibbs handled most of the receiving work. It seems likely there will be a similar split in 2024.
WR Overview
03/20/24 Amon-Ra St. Brown is a full-time player who often sees double-digit targets in games. Jameson Williams is currently the No. 2. Williams has been unreliable during his first two years in the league. As a result, his targets have been low. Coach Dan Campbell has stated that Williams will be a bigger part of the offense. Kalif Raymond should have the lead over Donovan Peoples-Jones for the No. 3 role, though that may not result in consistent targets each week.
TE Overview
03/20/24 Sam LaPorta is the lead TE. LaPorta is often the second pass-catching option in the offense. However, his targets were inconsistent in 2023. It's possible that trend continues in 2024. Regardless, he'll likely see more targets than many of the league's TEs.
